Best box mag for m249 ?

So just aquired a A&K M249 and I find the damned Mag huge as f***

I saw some smaller box mag on pictures but I was wondering what boxmag is best out there that would fit the A&K m249

so people with m249 what is the best bowmag out there and where can I find it ^^

If you're going to go box mag, MAG brand are the better nut sacks to get, but they are still going to break and are prone to failure (both from the push button wire being pinched, the internal gears breaking, and from failure of the box's plastic ceiling from the gun resting on it).

All of our M249 gunners switched over the LARGE mid caps (some chinese branded 200 round mid caps). Not perfect. But a hell of a lot more reliable than the box mags will ever be. They miss feed like you wouldn't believe after 10,000 rounds-ish.

10 000 rounds for that kind of gun is kinda like 1000 rounds for an m4 ... I don't find that pretty impressive XD

No MAG is the company name. I wouldn't go with a M4 magazine the box is better, holds more and looks proper! So go with a MAG brand box.

Never had an issue with any of my box mags, usually little tlc and common sense go a long way. The mini mag one works well I've had zero issues so far and no miss feeds yet..

Have an A&K M249, always been using the box mag for the last 2 years without big issues and the box seen at least 30,000 bbs through it. Some time you have to switch it to Auto instead of sound activated for a couple seconds to have it catch up but its somewhat rare. Last month at Nightfall2 i went thru 6-7000 bbs. Had to switch it twice to auto and had 1 miss feed over 24hours.
I can deal with that, but once this box mag breaks I ll get the MAG one.

Just ordered a MAG the other day, the first bad thing I'm hearing about it is from Shelledpants, But he's probably right in the long run. I'm going to get a 3 of them though, one for each of my saws, and one spare

I have a CA box that works pretty well, but fails hard to even the slightest bit of dirt or grass, so I gotta keep my BBs clean. Still goes down twice a game though.

So far the MAG nutsack seems the way to go if I wanna stay with boxmags...

The team I run with, abandoned box mags 2 years ago, we generally run 2 SAWs per section, they are key to success,

After trashing several box mags due to heavy and aggressive use of the guns, it was clear that feeding from mags was far far more reliable.

We run our saws slick, stripped of all extraneous parts, For us .. How they look is secondary to how they work, and how reliable they are.

So far this has worked for us, YMMV

I think mine is the CA nutsack. Pretty sure it wasn't MAG. Works great. Still use the stock one as it runs on 9.6v mini's or 7.4 lipo and since its a Daytona, I'll have extra batteries on game day.

We really need to get pics up with them all tweaked. They are scary skinny things.

I'm same way any piece not essential was stripped, this ca mk46 is heavy. But again a little tlc goes a long way. My old box mag had 80k+ thru it with zero issues, feeding at 30rps.

Weakest link is the feeding tube, notorious for letting shit get in. So common sense says what? Cover it, don't restrict it but cover it, you may laugh but automotive plastic wire loom is great for this.

If your area of play is sandy expect more issues, clean the box mag after every use.

Obviously a plastic box mag will break ontop with repeated use of it as your bipod.

Now your saws key to success why because your more geared to milsim so your rules are little more strict? Because really with my m4 I can lay down the exact same fields of fire as my mk46 with half the weight. The only thing that really makes a difference is the rule set you play with.

Generally, we see rules of saws restricted to 600 to 1000 rounds.

Rifles to 300 , using 180 round mid caps for the saw, that is 4 to 5 mags for your full load out, with nothing trapped in a feedpath.

When you run like this, rifles are shot semi only to conserve ammo, And the saw is also used in a focused maner. Short bursts... Running at night , with nods and ir lasers, you can get good work done. Or paired with a thermal sight for daylight use.. Not much ammo is wasted between hits
