Differences in polished BBs

I'm wondering what your favourite BBs are in terms of weight and polish.

My son is doing his science fair project on looking at how the different levels of polish on a fixed mass BB affect the range as well as precision (groupings). He was considering doing his own polishing but realized that the process may also affect the mass of the BB. Instead, he wonders if there are differences in terms of polish amongst commercially available BBs.

He did a similar project last year comparing Bio BB's to non-Bio's and ended up winning a gold medal at the national level competition.

Bb bastard "frag" bbs have much less polish then their normal line of bbs some other brands may be less or more polished.
i find the percision grade madbull bb's seem to be a bit more polished then their match grade bb those are baisicly the same as bb bastards
then you get yer walmart/canadian tire stuff those are made differently im not sure if they get a polish to them, but alot of em have seams and odd air bubbles that baisiclally effect the "smoothness" of the outside simaler to how polish would

What would be even MORE impressive, is finding if BB's really do have a specific relative velocity they like to be at for max accuracy
Like if .43s are more accurate with a relative velocity of 330fps over 380fps
same for .28, .30, etc

But as far as polish, you may be out of luck, high quality ammo is usually double polish, and you can't lower the finish without lowering quality.
Maybe ask BB bastard to send you some unpolished and single polished BBs for a special order?

the stability thing would.he awesome, more so for snipers, in my minor testings i find over
380fps .20 gets unstable

Around 450fps .30 gets unstable (thats 550 with .20 and as high ive had my bolt action)
by unstable i mean they will fly well for 100ft or less and then cork screw or just screw off in a random direction tho moving to .28 or.30 on a 400fps aeg negates the odd flight path
same with the bolt action going to .36 or .40 makes em fly nice n stright and far.
it would be nice if someone could tweak a firearm stability falculator to work for airsoft.

I've found every BB likes to be at a relative velocity of 320-350fps
But I think that number may increase as you raise the weight
.3s get amazing accuracy up to about 440 on .2s, but at 470 they're unstable out at the 270ish ft range. The difference between a perfectly straight line, being able to predict where your BB will drop out at max range, and not knowing where your BB will land in the last 10 feet
