Im curious to know if this would be considered a good deal for one of theese.
I can get a GoPro2 New with the LCD Screen "backpac"
For $315.00 plus tax and $19.00 each for extra batteries.

Did you check Ebay? Sorry OP I don't know a fair price for one of these. I just saw some that are cheaper on ebay. And with ebay there is no tax. I would maybe try to find a seller in Toronto to also save on shipping. That's how I got my Countour.

Ya this place is a walk in place that does cameras for the film industry its about 1km from my house, and they are my client so I just happened to ask them the price.
They are on clearence due to the GoPro3 bein out.
I should also mention that I can get either the motorsport or outdoor edition, obviously id go with the outdoor itll have headband and helmet mount included as well.
Based on the ebay price it seems to be a decent deal by the time you ship it pay tax and or duties add the LCD screen and such.
How do you like the contour? There is no screen option for that right? How much did you pay?

I got my contour roam for 110 and the seller was in Toronto so I was able to meet up with him. Its good except you cannot change settings without the laptop to connect to the software. It is extremely simple to use with one large button to record and 2 leds to show status of memory and battery. I am running it from a dash cam and since this one has the ability to mount on 1/4 inch tripod mounts just like a reqular camera. I am using it as a dash cam right now and Im loving it. The only con is that you cannot swap the battery on this model. Oh and there is no screen option. The only way to see your footage is to connect it to a laptop.

I just set the video to 720dpi and just run it like that. The strength that I can see is that its very shock resistant and you can rotate the lense up to 270 degrees to give a nice amount of mounting options. IE you can mount it on the side, upside down ect.

Just an FYI regarding the contour line, if you're looking at your options:

The Contour GPS and some other models (didn't keep myself up to date on that) can be connected to an iPHone or Android device via Bluetooth, in which case you can edit your setting on the fly and also have a preview before recording. Only downside is that you can't have the preview AND record at the same time (that said, that was last time I used it. A software/firmware update was released since then and maybe allows for that, not sure yet)

Main thingh i like about contour is the size, other then that in my research I think ive alrdy decided to go with the GoPro just cause it seems to be alot beter over all and I really want teh lcd screen option as im thinking i can figure a way to mount it behind the scope on my bolt action giving me some nice kill cam shots, plus unlimited eye relife on my scope should be fun 3x zoom easy target aquisition like an eotech, just wish it had night vision lol

You could directly use a compact digital camera; Saw some people on youtube with a similar setup hunting small games with a Crosman Marauder; Nice and efficient.

You could get a relatively cheaper camera this way, and it hurts less if you something happens and it breaks

Also, you will most likely have to build a custom mount for this, which kind of defeat the purpose of going with a goPro or Contour, whose advantages are mostly mounting options

And I think the wide angle lens of those sport cams will cause more problem than anything when used on a scope like that, but I might be wrong on this. I think you might see a lot of your scope's edge with a 135+ degree lens
