AN/PEQ - Which is best?

Hey guys,

Searchs some conversations on the board concerning those AN/PEQs. There are a few makes and i'm a bit confused as to which one works best. I'm not looking for super realism, but good battery storage.

From looking at the list, the G&P looks the best with a 9.6 3000 or a 10.4...

Any opinions on the subject?

An older, but helpfull none the less review of the ICS and one a few others. A good starting point for researching what may be best for your AEG. I used that in my decision for my AN PEQ2.

Hey Iceman,

I use the G&P AN/PEQ, it is definitly the best battery storage wise but the kits it self feels a little bit cheap. I had a few parts come off of it that I had to glue back in place and still I lost another part. It's just cosmetic damage but it's still annoying to see your AN/PEQ change from one game to the other.

ICS would be the most realist AN/PEQ but since it's not what you're looking for the G&P would be your best bet.

me and my buddy own both ICS and G&P,
they are good, but one thing we hope is that they make the
mount metal, not plastic. no matter how careful you are, it
will crack in time and over use. for that reason, although price is higer, we like
ANGS an/peq. super reality and quality..just my 2 cents

Personally I find the ICS to be the least realistic. The switches and buttons are clearly just molded into the one piece unit, whereas the G&P ones ( and Guarder too I think..) have all the switches and buttons as seperate parts so that they look like they are not just molded into one.

The ICS is also a replica of an earlier version of the PEQ-2, and the G&P is a replica of a later version...

So the G&P ones can hold large Sub C type batterys? If so then that would be the best. You would be able to get a real good ROF with a 170% spring.

I have a guarder an/peq and it works well, realism is there, it fits well.

the g&p one seems a little large even though it can carry a lot of battery power, but at the same time, it can get heavy.

I've had pretty much every brand pass through my hands. The ANGS units were the nicest, complete with detailed markings, stickers (if the retailer's version came with it), and a full metal mount. No creaking or flexing whatsoever.

I've never seen a real one, so I can't say if it was "the most realistic", but I could say that of all the units, the ANGS version was tied with TCD/Guarder in making you think twice as to whether you were looking at a toy or not.

Unfortunately, the ANGS units were very expensive and as far as I know, are no longer in production.

From my experience and reading around: (about the ICS, G&P and Guarder Kits)

G&P:
Holds Sub C Celled Batteries
Battery can't be taken out from the ANPEQ once assembled
is a bit big and unrealistic in dimensions

ICS: (have experience with)
Holds 9.6V 1700 MAH batteries
Battery can be taken out
Least realistic in appearance (seems like a flat box)
Mount is in the center, so not too prone to cracking (haven't seen one crack yet)

Guarder:
Holds 9.6V 1700 MAH batteries
battery can be taken out
realistic in appearance
Mount is on the front of the ANPEQ, which is more prone to cracking then others (I've seen a few crack during games)

Thanks for the link shinjit. By the looks of it the G&P one isnt noticeably that much bigger. Honestly you really cant tell at all. I think Im going to be picking up a G&P one now and puting in a 8.4v 2400mah battery.

Laylax's is the one that I have been looking for myself. I've gone thru 2 G&P units and this seems the best for loading batteries. Does anybody have a source for this model?

I use the TCD version with a 9.6V 1700mAh battery pack and it's more than enough to last me through a game or two. Convenient to be able to remove the battery pack for recharging but the plastic mount is weak for gaming. Had to glue the mount back once and replace the clamping rail because it cracked in half. I still would go for a smaller unit like this than one that can handle sub-C size batteries.

Thanks Batman, that looks like what i might get, especially at that price. Any customs problems that we know of for those?
