Hard vs. Soft Case

Hey
Just wonder what you guys found works best. I was looking for a soft case for my mp5 a4, and was looking at the guarder one:

I liked how nondescript it looked as opposed to the a hard gun case.
However, I'm not sure where i could stick my pistol since it would rattle around the main compartment and the side pouch would be filled with mags and the like.

Started looking at hard cases and found this:

They sell them for $29 at Russell Sports. I could fit mp5, mags, pistols and pretty much anything else i have.

Looking for people with experience with cases.

but dude, the guarder one has a pouch for secret papers! seriously though, i saw some guarder bags first hand and was very impressed, the quality was outstanding.

I dont know, if you want to have a tactical and 'cool' look, then get the bag witht eh 'secret' pouchs. Look better with a case with a cop pulled you over.

The ONLY advantage of a softcase is that it's less obvious as to what's inside. However, if that softcase has the Los Angeles Police Department SWAT logo right smack on there, it defeats the only good thing going for it.

I would only recommend a softcase if you want to keep what's in there low key.

For protecting your AEG I'd recommend a hardcase hands down. I'm using a Gunguard for my SR16 and theres plenty of room for pistols, extra mags and any accessories you might have. I guess the only complaint I have is that it is a little bulky (not surprising since it was designed to accomodate two hunting rifles).

As for soft cases, when I first started airsoft I actually used my old paintball softcase to carry around my MP5A4. As long as you exercise a little caution it should be fine, and I have to admit it was easier to carry around since I could just sling it across my back.

I personally have to say soft case all the way. To most people it just look's like a large laptop bag, unlike a clearly distinctive hard case that usually says GUN somewhere on it.

May I suggest a musical instrument case? They are very well built & totally inconspicous. Perfect for lets say, you take public transit to the field.

Stuff your weapons/mags/ect in the case & other gear in a backpack, you just look like some musician carrying a bunch of crap.

Also you can rip out the inside's & install eggshell foam for a PERFECT fit so nothing moves around.

Just my two cent's on a practical solution.

I'm using an Uncle Mike's soft case for my M4 because I don't have to remove the side location AN/PEQ battery holder to fit in the bag. Since all my Armalites have metal bodies and full length reinforced outer barrels, I'm not too worried about cracking the gun in a soft gun case. Easier to carry around than my hard cases.
