The MP18 being made into airsoft are custom made - no major company produce the mp18.

If a PPSH and a STEN had a baby!

Start with a STEN and make a custom body and stock based on a PPSH.

Actually, the MP18 is like the grand-daddy of all smgs.

MP18 was the first troop carried SMG, there were earlier but never produced in large numbers or used by a military

WWI guns are few and far between.
Obscure WWI guns are generally custom built.

I might be wrong on this, but I think all you'd really need would be a PPSH, a new barrel shroud, and some sheet metal. What I'm thinking is this (considered it for messing around with a Cybergun Thompson): keep the standard drum mag, but fabricate a new feed system. Rotate the drum 90° clockwise and put a chute on it, shaped to fit the mag well. Only problem would be feeding it to the chamber. Plus, it wouldn't exactly be a perfect reproduction, but it could definitely look close enough.

Technically yes, but it depends on your definition of the first smg - the Villar Perosa was horribly impractical in ground-combat and was originally design as an aircraft light machine gun and it was design to be fired from a stationary position (http://world.guns.ru/smg/it/villar-perosa-e.html). The MP18 is a much more representative early design to what future interwar smgs (the british lancaster, the MP28, the Bergmann MP-35, the Type 100 were all derived from the MP18 design rather than the Villar Perosa)will be based on; hence, it is regarded as the first practical smg.
