TeamRadar for iPhone/Android/WP7
Hey guys,
stumble onto this today and was wondering what the people here would think about this. TeamRadar by SizzleCode Might end up being useful if it works as advertised, and much less expensive than the (crappy?) TCube thing. Only question remaining is "is there enough player having/will to bring a smartphone on the field?" Obviously it probably is close to useless when it comes to indoor games, unless there's a lot of windows. Comment away! (Note the iPhone app is 3$ but there's an inApp purchase of 5$ for "high speed updates", while the Android is 7$, hmm) MP |

I take it it's no use to consider using that kind of app? :P

Not at the price of the devices, not counting their fragility field-wise

I like the idea, but last time I brought my phone in a game...

Yeah definitely a factor to take into consideration, but ain't there some cases that would be able to effectively protect from the impact of a BB?

Protect the phone itself, yeah. I have a Seidio Innocase Rugged. But the screen... quite hard to do since they are touchscreen phones!
And that wasn't a BB. It was actually in my pack, but I guess at some point I did a move that put a lot of weight and crushed the screen...

Only "proper" way to use that is team mates that don't look the device and a remote commander in a safe place to coordinate assault and avoid friendly fire. At least in this current config.
A better one would be a phone in a pocket and a screen under the chin (with a massive plastic protection), you just have to look down to have a look at the situation. You just take out the phone for input. |

Neat app but I don't think I'd actually use it in a game. Also Conker if you didn't get the insurance it looks like you could just replace the case as the LCD seems fine.
Also the phones COULD be protected enough without being able to otherwise use them but then your looking at way less battery life. Probably a realistic Max of 5 hours if your lucky but I doubt you'd get that. |

Unfortunately on the Milestone it's the whole panel (LCD, touch panel, glass, speaker...) they had to replace... Cost me 120$. That's why I bought the Seidio Innovase Rugged, protects very well and it's semi waterproof (waterresistant). @Ninja: that's the best way to get you screen shot :P But yeah if a squad (or at least squad leader) was wearing their phones in their pack (so not looking at the screen) and a CO was directing them with a laptop or similar that could definitely work and be helpful for larger scale games.

^^-- tell me this thing doesn't really exist! Come on...
But I think Ninja's idea is not bad at all, but would only be usefull for big games like he said. Anyways I think it's good to know it exists, so if a need/use for it comes by, it'll be there. |

Yep it does.... new snipers dont have to do the math before shooting anymore, they just download the app on there iphone, enter the wind speed, distance, and GPS position, and the app does the math for the scope adjustment for them!

My 511 watch does the same, no need to add extra weight to the rifle and more bulky though unless they are facebook while on mission.

Check this GPS pocket.
http://www.militarymorons.com/equipment/2ndline2.html Could fit your phone and protect it enough. I will buy this pouch for my Garmin 60Cx soon.
