Battery charger's fuse burning.
Greetings,
i recently bought a tenergy mini battery for an airsoft to realise that every time i'm using the charger with that particualr battery the fuse burns within a secon after plugging it. The battery charger is a tenergy who is Universal for any NiMH /NiCd battery packs 7.2V - 12V (6-10 Cells pack). My battery is a tenergy 1600 mah and i'm setting the charger to 7.2 v. Since i have no problems charging some other battery i use (size subc 3500mah), someone have an idea what could cause the fuse to burn? Thanks in advance. |

Tenergy anything is complete shit.
Buy something else. No really, buy something decent.

I had the same issue with a certain mini battery, would blow the fuse immediately. Turned out when I wired it up with a large connector I accidentally wired it the same as a large battery would have as far as polarity goes, but forgot mini connectors tend to be wired the opposite polarity (as far as connector keying goes).

Which brand and charger would you recommend then? I'm guessing intellect, what do you have to propose?

Do you have the plugs wired in reverse?
Mini Marui/Tamiya plugs are wired OPPOSITE of large Tamiya plugs that you'd typically find on a sub-C pack. Edit: Doh. What Cdn_Stalker said. |

Hi,
Thanks to you all. Illusion has fond the problem. I reversed the wires and the problem is fixed. I'm gonna have to put some new connector to switch to the different kind of batteries now. Thank you again.

Well,
i'm thinking more about small connector pins than deans cause i'll have to switch back with the different kind of batteries. |

Wire them all up for Deans and make an adaptor for your charger. Is what most do, and Deans are the most reliable with the lowest resistance of all the connectors, the mini ones are the worst for both.

Personally I hate deans, that's just me though. I only really hate it because I don't think anyone here uses them and then when someone does it's a battery crisis if they forget they're battery :P
If you rewire them I advise keeping the old ends and making an adapter for those "just incase" times.

It takes 2 minutes to solder a tamiya and deans connector together to make a 1/2' adaptor. Ive heard the whole "well noone else ever has deans" argument, and its the most pathetic excuse I ever heard. a 5$ tiny adaptor is all you need.

absolutely agree. deans is the way to go.
I've even gone as far as to also make a large to small adapter to accommodate anyone who needs to borrow a battery. |
