what's up with chinese airsoft companies.

I've noticed that some chinese companies make really high end guns as well as really cheap guns. Namely dboys, cyma, well... what's up with some of these brands making $30 guns as well as $400 guns? When I was browsing eBay, I saw one metal cyma ak47 for $90 and another lot that had 2 cyma ak47s for $60. Would there be any similiarities between the cheap CYMA and the expensive CYMA? This whole subject is a bit of a mystery to me.

p.s. I know I cannot ship them to Canada, so this thread isn't about importing, it's about the quality of guns.

There are boy versions and men versions. Or it could be listed as a starting bid price...

They just make cheap, clear plastic versions and more expensive metal versions.
They do a lot of OEM for other companies who rebrand their stuff, like Cybergun, Crossman, etc as well as their own brand. So the quality of gun varies a lot.

thanks for the answer.

your answer leads me to another question: take G&G for example, just because there is a lot of plastic on the gun doesn't mean it's a cheap quality gun. Are there any chinese plastic guns that get respect on the asc forums (not including JG)?

When your talking about chinese industrial facilities, hong kong is generally excluded.
By this statement, the chinese don't make any high end guns.
Additionally, the majority of high end guns are made specifically in hong kong.

And JG gets no respect.

There's millions of different types of plastic. Tokyo marui makes the best plastic guns, and they're based out of japan. They're actually fairly tough, and incredibly well built guns. However they're specifically designed to operate under 330fps and so upgrading beyond 330 is a pain.

G&G makes many metal guns, they're okay as a company, I have no respect for them myself because they blatantly lie about their products to sell them. But internally, not so good stock.

If you want a good plastic gun, buy a marui. It's made of good plastic, guaranteed to be compatible with upgrade parts, incredibly reliable internally, and holds it's value for a long time.
Whereas a JG loses half it's value as soon as you buy it. I sold a 7 year old marui gun for $650.

Chinese manufacturing

The secret behind the differing qualities is a secret of Chinese manufacturing that is really simple if you are a company assembling your product in China. The secret is simply that they will build to the quality you wish, that said the higher the quality product, the greater the cost to produce it.

I only learnt this when researching motorcycles and production facilities, was kind of a surprise when that they can tailor production methods that way, same factory producing the same item at two differing levels of quality, kinda of moronic but at end of day its all dollars and sometime no sense
