JG ak47 locking up?

Hey so i have this JG ak47 and its got an odd problem that i cant figure out:S

Okay so when im shooting the gun, sometimes the gun will stop shooting and i when i pull the trigger i hear a faint click.

So i popped of the motor and pulled the trigger and the motor spun.
So i put the motor back on and the gun worked!
So what could cause this problem? i checked the gearbox and its fine, my battery was charged...so could it be a faulty motor?

Any help is really apreciated!

Is this a problem that you have had since getting the gun? Or has this suddenly started to happen? New or used?

Try a larger battery first. A fully charged battery could still be at fault if it's old or defective.

it could be the motor or the battery. Try a different fully charged battery.

I have tried many types of batterys and the are all new 9.6 and 8.4 volts.
Also the gun has been doing this since day 1.
It is for sure not a battery problem so im going to have to say its a motor problem.
Just wanted to see what other people had to say.

If a 9.6 still won't pull it and locks it up then it can be motor but don't discount a poorly built gearbox or something broke inside it.

Have you adjusted motor height?

Also, a motor out of the cage can still turn when powered since there is nothing putting resistance on it. See if you can borrow a known good motor to diagnose it.

couldn;'t bad shimming make the gears rub too much and cause soo much extra stress that even a good battery or motor will have trouble, or would you here the sound? (taken from coachster idea) I am curious for my own knowledge as well.

You might hear it grinding. It's possible. Inspecting the gears and the walls if the mechbox would be a good indicator for that.

The gearbox is shimmed fine and the gears spin nice.

Why im confused is the fact that it will stop shooting, then i disconnect the motor from the gun, reattach it and it works.

Im going to try a different motor.

Does it only happen on semi when you try to shoot successive shots quickly? Because that could be due to poor trigger pulls. Male sure you pull it all the way back, and hold it until the gun fully cycles. Also, your anti reversal latch could be worn out (spring or the latch itself). I had a similar problem with a dboys aks-74u, it would happen randomly and I would have to punch the grip to unlock it.

What your describing happens when your piston moves back 3/4 of the way, you let go of the trigger, and your motor isn't strong enough to pull it the last 1/4 of the way. That's why when you remove the motor and replace it, the piston moves just enough that your motor can cycle it.

If it's a very loud click it could be due to a poorly assembled trigger switch mech, and the contacts arent lining up. I don't think this is likely because your motor works when you disconnect it from the mechbox.

No this happens on both firing modes, not just semi.

I know its not the anti reversal latch because it is working properly and it is not worn out.

The click itself is very very quite. I can just hear the motor trying to move but it cant.

At this point i am thinking that my motor is garbage.

What spring do you have in there? It's possible you need a motor with more torque to pull a heavier spring.

its just an m110 spring. nothing special.

But i now noticed that it unlocks when i hit the bottom of the grip.

Motors in too tight or the gears are shimmed wrong.

Is it loud or screechy when you shoot? Try backing out the motor a bit.

the gearbox cycles smooth.
The gears arnt too tight either.

Well if you insist it's not the gears but you smack the grip and it clears the lock up, I can't see why it can't be the motor height. Just try backing out the motor by quarter turns and see. Mark the starting point so you can go back if I'm wrong, or get your hands on a known working short motor.

btw, if this has been an issue since day one, I'm assuming you tried contacting the previous owner or vendor?
