Shooting too high, kickback or inaccuracy?

Hello,

I'm new to airsoft and I bought a KJW 1911 MEU with a green laser. I built a target and I tried shooting it. The problem I got was that it was always hitting higher than I was aiming. The laser is adjusted fine and I tried with both the laser and the sight but it's always too high. It's the first time I shoot a gun, except for a paintball rifle but I never really tried being that accurate with it, so my question is, is it inaccurate because it need adjustments or is it because of the kickback? The kickback is pretty hard on the gun and when I have the laser on I can see it moving all over the place when I shoot but isn't the projectile launched before that? Do I need to learn to grip harder or do I need to adjust the gun? Thanks!

Its possible that the hopup maybe turned up slightly to high. The hopup adjustment for your 1911 should be located somewhere on the inside of the slide. You will require to remove the slide to adjust it.

You could also be "pulling back" or anticipating the recoil. Don't and you will shoot more straight but I agree with T7 that it could also be the hop setting being too high resulting in overhop.

Try shooting at a distance and see what path the BB takes. Then tune the hop so that it shoots straight. It could also be the ammo you're using too. ie. Gun might be tuned for .25's but you're using .20's or vice versa.

What's the range? What's the BB weight? What brand are the BBs? Have you played with the hopup/Do you know how to adjust the Hopup?

Could be many things

EDIT : Shit, T7 and Ping beat me to it :P

Range is about 7 meters, I don't know anything about the BBs, they came with the gun and there is zero indication. I read about hopup and I'll try to find out how to adjust it on the web since the manual is pretty useless.

First, ditch the BBs :P Buy BB Bastard. Like said by Latency, use at least .20, .25 if you can.

I'm not familliar with the MEU, but I have an Hicapa, so it should be pretty much the same.

Remove the slide by pulling it until the small notch, before where the slide would normally catch. Push on the slide catch from the other side of you gun and it should fall down. Remove the slide by the front.

You should see a small adjustment wheel. Tune up or Down.

EDIT : Just found this : http://www.facepunch.com/threads/868...911-MEU-Review

Might be a good read.

I bought these .25 BBs but I wanted to finish the ones that came with the gun before using them. The difference is really that great?

I just adjusted the wheel a bit, I'll check it out this afternoon, thanks.

Well if one of the BBbastard guy could come here, they'd give you a whole page of reasons why, but let's just say you pay for quality. And it's right for everything in airsoft.

But yeah, it's really trial and error. Tune it up a little, test. See the changes. Tune until happy.

When you'll know your gun a bit more, cleaning the barrel can also help.

Ok, unfortunately I don't know the brand of the other BBs I bought either but the website says top grade.

So the kickback really has nothing to do with the accuracy right?

Your BB as already exited the barrel when you gun kicks. But remember that the sights are mounted on a moving slide. It can't be THAT accurate either.

I turned the wheel all the way to the other side (like 4mm rotation), which is supposed to make the gun fire lower but the bullets are all in the same range, there is zero difference. I still haven't tried to use my other BBs tho. They could hit lower?

So it's normal at that distance to hit the same place with the wheel at opposite directions?

Edit: I also need to say that I didn't completely disassembled the gun, I only removed the slide and I was already able to access the hopup wheel so I didn't need to remove the spring, barrel or anything, I just turned the wheel and put it all back together.

You may be experiencing parallax. Try standing further away. Minimum 10 metres. Ideally, you'd want 25m+, if you want to zero in for long range.
