G&P WOC GBBR FINISHED! **56k death**
I finally received all of my parts for my GBBR project yesterday and spent the entire day building it. Its finally done!
I didn't take any pictures of the packages or the process of the build, i got too excited. lol But anyways here's the final product! Pics of the internals: (all G&P ) A close up shot of the receiver I had a bit of a problem with the forward release. It was contacting the pin that held it in place which caused it to jam in the forward position and started rubbing against the BCG. Fixed it with the help of a file. I still need to get a CQB length inner barrel. :P Parts: -G&P lower full asssemble set -G&P magpul receiver -Magpul MOE -Magpul BAD lever -Magpul PTS CTR ( fits but a little bit tight) -Magpul AFG -Magpul MBUS -Magpul XT rail covers -Socom gear mk18 rail -Daniel Defense angled mount -Surefire g2 flashlight ~~Thanks to Karma, Huang, and Jugglez (AIRSOFTPARTS.CA) for supplying the parts. Couldn't have done this without them. Last edited by spartan117; August 20th, 2010 at 18:57.. |

What is that thing sticking up at an angle, just above the trigger? I've never been an armalite fan, but thats honestly a first time i've seen one.

Did you buy any special barrel nut for your Socom gear DD mk18 ris?

The thing you are asking about are the anti-rotation pins. Since GBBR actually uses a hammer mechanism it helps that the pins don't back out... |

Why don't you cut your inner barrel, then debur the inside of the barrel.

Edit your thread, it's not finished yet if your barrel is sticking like that :P and you should get a sling mount on the rear near the body.
I'm not a fan of rails & too much accessories on a gun but whatever saves your life from incoming deadly bbs is the key also why is your peq box so far away from the front. |

Are there any important components missing?: No Is everything together?: Yes Sounds finished to me. Besides i have a suppressor for it. I wouldn't mind having higher accuracy and velocity for the time being anyways. It still functions like a dream. The accessories were put on for the pictures. The last picture is what i run with. Lighter. Faster. Better. |

The benefit in terms of ease of use for half this magpul stuff is debatable, I can check my action/chamber, have the empty mag out, new mag in and have my action forward and put rounds down range in under 3 seconds with my C7, the old C7, not the fancy new ambicrap one, while the bolt release is a nice little peice, most people can't whack it under stress during BMQ/SQ contact with blanks never mind if they were actually being shot at, so alot of us just rack the charging handle, never mind fiddling with some silly BAD lever :P
I have a GBBR, I know a bunch of people with GBBRs..... I know they have hammers, but none of the ones I've seen or own have the little bar, so if I'm curious as to what it is or it's purpose/function, then I'm obviously going to ask

I'm kind of asking myself the same thing, I see that part a lot without understanding the point of it.
@ Spartan : You're missing ASAP plate et RSA sling mount... and why do you place you An-Peq so close ? that' suppose to be placed as close as possible of the front sight as possible or around your hand. |

My peq 15 is that far back aswell because it leaves space in the front for your thumb to rest on the top of the Rail System. more stable shooting i think. Also it reduces the weight in the front and keeps it more balanced (not that a peq 15 is that heavy any ways)

Having the thumb completly on the top is not very usefull, having it parallel of the barrel and on (or slightly aboove) the side rail is the most "fitting" way to hold it. That is to stop right away the gun when turning to get on target without "wobble".
The guys using fore grip as... well, grips and M203/EGLM users know that well. For switches I like to use the rail covers from Tango Down with a switch space on them. For the weight I shoot my M95 standing so I'm not very concerned by that... but AK with grenade launcher is still extremely hard to keep on target for a while.

WE M4's hammer mechanism works differently, they don't use the RS pin location or layout. WA's hammer actually works more or less like the RS, with 2 cross pin through to the receiver and are located by the receiver through purely friction and slight interference/transitional fit. If the pins are removed a few times and if the receiver are slightly worn they can and will back out.....In the case of G&P receiver, which are not machined from forged blanks and not mil-spec anodized, thats more prone to happen and the anti-rotation links there are for a peace of mind.... Magpul stuff is always up for debate, but they always sells their stuff with the mantra of the end user needing to train for it before it'll be effective. Stuff like BAD lever, which does not actually change the function of the stock pingpong paddle, and you can use it exactly the same way with or without it, is just "value added" IMO. The fact that now a lot of firearm OEs are making ambi-bolt catch receivers, including KAC with their SR-15/16/25/M110, means they see the value of being able to manipulate bolt from both side. BAD lever costs next to nothing compare to the cost of a new receiver.... If Magpul stuff is expensive for no reason and people are jumping on it, sure I can agree with you. But I see all the RS accessories, and most of the cheaper stuff are the Magpul stuff, and they are good quality and works as advertised, I don't see why not to use them.... |
