Wiring to deans

So I want to rewire my MP5 to deans, and the current job is back wired from the gearbox as a mini tamiya, then it has an adaptor to large tamiya. Do I just change the large connector on the battery and adaptor to deans or do I have to add a deans connector directly to the gear box?

My MP5 was wired to the front, I just chopped the mini plug off and tacked the Deans on. That other plug is handy if you ever want to wire the front, then you can just plug in a second harness.

Where the connector is just coming out of the mechbox, put a Deans. Then add another Deans to where your battery is going to be placed. This is the only way you'll get the benefits of using Deans connectors, If you still keep a mini in there, then your resistance won't change much at all from stock.

I'm saving changing the second set of plugs up for the next time I have to crack that thing open (hopefully never).

On the same bent though make sure you hook up a new wire for your changer which is also straight to the Deans, don't copy the large to mini setup that most chargers seem to come with.

So just to clarify, put a dean as the first connection from the gearbox. I have a full stock on my mp5, to get to the end of the stock I will have to make an extra wire to go between the gearbox and the battery. Will this extra wire nullify the benifits of using deans?

My chargers only output is deans I had to make a deans to large/large to mini adaptor to use it.

Not unless you use some sort of high resistance wire.

The Deans will benefit a slight bit if you use the stock wiring. Of course, even if you use a larger wire gauge (lower resistance), you will only see a slight benefit anyways (wire resistance is measured per 1000ft, so your #16AWG wire might be rated at 0.0365 phms per thousand feet, where your #18AWG wire was rated at 0.0548 ohms). I'm just guessing numbers off the top of my head, but wire in short lengths has very low resistance as it is. Is more important the temp of the wire in your gun, smaller wire will heat up faster than larger wire due to amount of current drawn. Resistance is literally a moot point.

When I wire a gun for Deans, say an MP5, I'll buy three sets of Deans, one for the connector just after the mechbox, one for the end where the battery attaches, and one to make an adaptor Deans to large Tamiya. Since yours has a full stock, you could not bother with the connector just outside the gearbox, as long as you splice wire onto it to make it longer to reach your battery.

I just chop all of mine near the gear box and solder in a low resistance wire to a deans out the back of the stock. on my M4, with the JG box, I used a mini deans to connect the extension wire. it's now wired with a regular deans at the mechbox and a m/f deans extension wire.

What I do when rewiring rear wired guns is chop off the first connector and solder those wires together, then solder on a deans connector at the end. Really there's no point in having 2 connectors in an AEG.

If you require 2 connectors; use bullet or b.a.n.a.n.a. plugs where the wire connects in the stock and use deans for your battery ends...

Simply just replace all connector to dean. That's what I do on my STAR SCAR-H. That's first upgrade I do when I get my gun. It takes me less than 5 minutes.

In a front wired MP5, you left the back as a mini connection you mean? Then you're not getting the benefit of Deans.

There is in a front wired TM MP5, it allows you to remove the mechbox while leaving the wiring harness inside the body since the wires run under the hop up unit which is screwed to the body half. One less step and less risk of losing the two small screws that secure the hop up unit.

Am sure some other guns would benefit from a quick disconnect in the body making mechbox removal easier.
