Like the title says:
When I buy an airsoft, does it get shipped in front of my house or at the post office near my house? I live in Montreal in a neighborhood where lots of thing get stolen. I don't want the item will to get shipped in from of my house because I am scared that someone will take it. So that's why I am asking that question. Thank you! |

The usual procedure if a person is not home is for the Canada post delivery attendant to leave a notice in your mail box that they did not catch you at home and that they will either try again or you can pick your item up at your nearest postal outlet. When you have your item sent it would help if you ask the sender to add a signature required to the parcel. That way there should be absolutely no way the Canada post worker would leave your item without a signature.

Signature requirement adds a couple bucks to the cost, but not that much.

I've had many, many things delivered to my house through Canada Post and they've never left an item at my doorstep. I always get a card telling me which location they'll leave my item at, and when it will be available for pick up. I'm probably the only person on earth that's never had a problem with them.

Thank you everybody for the info. Very appreciated!
I want to know why most of the sellers does not want to ship by COD (Cash on Delivery)? How it works is that the buyer needs to pay to get the package. With this method, the buyer will not have to pay a certain percentage with paypal and will be certify to get the item. Thanks again! |

There's potential pitfalls to COD too, in addition to the hassles. You could send something COD, then when it gets there the package gets refused (maybe the guy's roommate or wife or mother answers the door). Then you're screwed out of the shipping costs.
COD is rarely ever used. EMT or DD is the best way to go.

I've not only had items dropped off on my doorstep in plain view, I've also had CP's contractors sign for me and leave the package behind, which they're REALLY not supposed to do. That's what they get for going with the lowest bid contractors....

Don't know about any brokerage fees applied to items sent within Canada, but is the second time UPS has charged brokerage fees to me (first time was $100 for a leather flight jacket I bought in 2002). |

Sometimes they'll sign the package for you and just toss it in the bushes. I believe once someone shipped a gun to someone and the deliveryman just signed for it and tossed it in the bushes or something and it got covered by snow and the package was lost and he was freaking out.... Yeah an airsoft gun in a package outside for that long that's just not cool. I think I've also heard of some of them not doing what they're supposed to with Real Steel packages as well which is actually pretty dangerous. I think Xpresspost and Priority are the only ones that aren't outsourced to the lowest bidder and as such they usually follow the rules.
