Hey Phil:

I might as well get it from the horse's mouth. Pronunciation:

"AY-REZ" or "AIR-EAZE" ?

Thanks

Glad to hear our feedback counted; this thread is an example to all retailers on how to properly gauge player opinions.

I would suspect the name Ares is as in the god of war. Pronunciation as air'-eez.

Sorry I didn't get to read all the previous posts before posting
I'd just like to add in, the whole reason why marui is the standard, and why it will always be the standard is because;
1) They were the first, at least the first to patent the mechbox (proof is TOP uses the bellows because they weren't allowed to make the same mechbox design as marui)
2) The first upgrade parts ever made, were made for the first airsoft guns ever made, the marui.
3) people copied marui's design since the bellows were crap and copyright laws aren't so hot in Hong Kong/China, so new brands were inherently TM compatible
4) The whole upgrade part market is primarily based around the marui standard, 2 dozen profitable upgrade part manufacturers, and half a dozen high quality airsoft manufacturers aren't going to conform to any other standard since it's a waste of money.

Yea the only exception the electric gun proprietary parts is Systema's but they are a whole 'nother ball game in themselves.

Which is further reinforced by the helmet and spear on their logo.

Before the PTW, Systema make regular Marui based AEG with their complete upgrades parts and metal bodies and on top of that all upgrades parts including empty and complete mechbox, metal bodies for M4 and Mp5 variants are also available

My biggest issue, like many others, is the total lack of after sales service & support. I operate an AEG service shop and I can't tell you how many pissed off customers I have because I can't get parts from ARES or the Canadian distributor. Last ARES client I had came in with a Tavor missing the full auto actuator parts. Three small pieces. Took a three weeks of hounding the Canadian distributor for them to find out ARES wasn't even replying to him. ARES has lost a dozen customers easy that have come into my shop for repairs and I have not been able to secure the required parts. I'm at the point of refusing them in the shop just because of lack of support. It's like ARES doesn't give a shit about past customers, they just want you to buy a new gun.

As much as this would make things easier, the best way for this company to get more competitive in the market and move forward is to stand behind what they are already making with parts, and customer service. They have to get face time with the customer to ensure that they know when they buy their ARES rifle or gear no matter what happens to it, it's not a lost investment. And this seems to be the resounding answer from all the posts I've read thus far. I also think that if the guys know their internals are being upgraded off the hop, why not sell rifles with better internals for that little bit extra since most customers are going to spend that money anyhow in a lot of cases. This alone will up the QC, and in itself solve a lot of the issues.

I'm looking at getting back into airsoft and ARES has crossed my mind a few times, and I've been looking around and researching. I've owned TM, ClassicArmy, KWA, JG and a few more I can't even remember. The one I liked the best was my KWA, simply because anything that broke I could replace for the most part, and they followed up once I had the part to ensure everything was good again. This alone is golden, and gives the customer cofidence in their product line.

I've found this thread very interesting with all the different oppinions, and I've very glad it hasn't turned into a flame war as all the points made for the most part have been very good.

I call them proprietary parts like another people here has called them because they can't be replaced with another aftermarket manufacture parts. The parts I'm referring are common parts e.g. trigger assembly, gearbox, hop-up units, nozzle, and spring guide and etc... Not once did I refer them uncommon unless ARES referred them as uncommon parts. Stores like Ehobby has these parts but unfortunately once they have it in-stock for a day its disappear less than 48 hours and then another 2-3 months wait. That is how much people needs ARES parts for general repairs or even minor upgrades. ARES should just have a webstore for end user to get parts from them if they are not able to ship to dealers.

As for me its not just the hop-up issue, I'll live with the hop-up issue as I just have tendency to modified anything I do not feel have a tight fit as you can say... E.g loose dial gear on hop-up.

But anyway, its not just parts ARES lacks on it also accessories, one individual I know purchased M110 SR25 and not able to get any magazine for it is just odd. I mean you release product but you have to expect at least a gravy amount of magazines for the end user to purchase. I'm not even going to go into details about the gearbox on a M110 having a built in hop-up lol... Didn't we learn anything from STAR?

Thanks, Yuu.

Let me ask this though, other companies that have proprietary parts, do their dealers usually stock them and make them available for purchase? Maybe I'm a little disconnected, but it seems the shops around here only keep general repair parts and will ask that you special order any uncommon parts. Heck my local store is a pretty big KWA dealer, and even when my old KWA went down I had to special order parts to get it fixed up. Do you think asking our dealers to begin stocking some odds and ends parts would make a large difference in regards to our parts support, or would you rather there be a single, centralized website where you can just hop-on purchase any part (by part number) for an ARES gun and have it express shipped to you?

Again the problem arises that if you buy an ARES, it's always going to be an ARES.
Veteran players don't want stock guns, they want GOOD, UPGRADED guns.
Unless ARES can make and install internals that are on par with prometheus and ARS, there's no point in keeping things proprietary.

Would you buy an aftermath Kraken for a hard gaming, 24 hour op, primary weapon?
