Holy crap, lots of posts. Alright:
Relja, Probably won't be another project after the pistol for a while, but if anything, an RPK perhaps I just ordered a stamped steel RPK drum for my AKM last night from RSOV, will post pics when it's here. Kos, I see you don't care much for my AKM since it's lost it's tactical flat black paint and scope rail Skruface, I shall PM you with the details. Coma, Yes I have considered that for a while, I'd need the gas pipe set too, as to make it an AKM, you have to do more then just fill in the holes. Hell I'd take the outer barrel too, and the rear sight. Maybe someday some retailer will help me out. As for the springer, if we're thinking of the same one - it looks nice but it's 100% plastic, so that's a no go. Cassius, Alright, it's not complicated at all. BUT keep in mind it's no good for an AKS as the battery sits up there due to the folding stock. Which is why my upcoming AK pistol won't have an ICS bolt, even though I could get/install one. To everyone else - thank you for the complements. Any more questions, ask away. Cheers! Alex

Thanks mate, it's an AK-47 Type 2A with a 74 flash hider. Battery sits in the stock so it's all good

You built a Type 2A AK? Very impressive, although I highly, highly doubt that. I bet it's just the usual TM lookalike - Type 3.

The woodkit came from Ebay, but it didn't look like what you see now. Took a lot of sanding, some reshaping, 4 coats of staining, and a thick coat of clear. See the link in the beginning of the first post that will show you what the kit looked like originally.

I just ordered the ICs bolt assembly from blazing toys, does it just drop right in to a kraken?
$32.00 not too bad. |

Very simple, and even easier with a plastic receiver. Simply get rid of the battery tray/cocking handle assembly, remove and sand smooth the little nubs that hold the battery tray down, and wrap tape around both ends of the ICS bolt spring guide. http://www.airsoftretreat.com/forums...?topic=31335.0 Blazing toys is sold out of those bolts from what I heard, and they are closed for the holidays. Cheers, Alex

So pretty much I only have to remove the forward notches on both sides of the receiver and shim up the spring with tape? |

Yep - all notches except the last ones towards the stock. And no, not the spring, but the screw on ends on the spring guide. Otherwise it's way too loose.

nice job alex, my only suggestion would be to scuff up the pistol grip so it matches the level of wear on the rest of the gun, cause seriously... it's gonna take 10 years for it to accumulate from you playing ;p
