Here is the proof in photographic form for those of you who feel I need to lie for some reason about the Crye Precision MultiCam order.

A minor clarification gents, MultiCam IS used by the U.S. Forces. I know this because we built it and sold it to them. We have also sold it to Canadian law enforcement.

Kind Regards

Pics are sweet, Whisper Kill. You looking to outfit your unit with multicam, or are you just testing it out yourself? Does it also come in ranger caps?

The MultiCam was for me only, not the unit. The price point is still out there if you want to "hardcore" Crye stuff. And that stuff is the real deal. At this point, if you visit www.multicampattern.com, they link up to many manufacturers of MultiCam products. Virtually anything you desire IS currently available to civies, save Crye's Armour.

As Brian Kroon mentions, it is currently being used by some U.S. military units, and there are a few Canadian manufacturers, DropZone being one. Check out their Recce Smock if you haven't seen it yet, available in both CadPat and MultiCam.

Patrol caps (not Ranger caps), boonies & helmet covers are "coming" from Crye. Maybe by fall.

If you can't wait, I got a boonie and patrol cap off ebay (not overly good quality, probably made from scraps) and a custom boonie (has detatchable neck flap) from Tiger Tactical. Tiger also makes helmet covers to fit US and CDN helmets.

The boonie offered by eBay seller Military Griffin is not bad and should hold up to airsoft use as the thread seemed a bit thin. Anything more rigorous and your mileage may vary. His insistence on using UPS to ship to Canada significantly added to the cost :rrr:

I wonder if they will someday offer them in OD, Black, and Navy Blue for SWAT/ERT teams... I hope so. Either way I am definately going to get me some if they become civvy legal... Either that, or I will get my bro to get me some .

And also, making the Multicam black/OD/Navy blue would be a tad bit, odd...

Well the good thing about Multicam is it works in many different environments compared to most camos that are only designed one specific place.

Cadpat is only good where there is lots of green; anywhere else it doesn't work.
Same goes for most camos out there.

Multicam is the exception to this rule, as it really helps to blend in with a lot of different vegetation and surroundings, from desert environment to forested areas. Its very impressive.

I'd also add that to better understand how it works, its necessary to see it on a big piece of fabric. I have a 8x4 here for fotography and you can see all the subtilities in the design. The overlays, the shades of colours, the patterns and pattern breakers, the stripes... its really well though of.

Multicam camo really does follow along the lines of 'Jack of all trades, master of nothing'. This is just my opinion, but, I think the idea of an 'all purpose camo' is like the Emperor with no clothes, by its definition, it doesn't exist. Until they come up with that lightwrapping predator suit, I think the best camos for different environments are DESIGNED for specific environments to the exclusion of others.

Multicam to me looks like someone couldn't decide between desert, forest, urban or winter camo and came up with something that works for all three but is a master of none of those environments. That being said, it looks cool if for nothing else than the fact that everyone is now wearing MARPAT and CADPAT. We're all due for something new and unique.

Actually what I think Crye really has going for it more than the material is the actual design itself. I'd pick it up in a heartbeat if they had the field pants and shirt in CADPAT or MARPAT.

Stop fighting the last war people! It's no longer about hiding a platoon in the woods anymore against a Warsaw pact enemy with sophisticated satellite, high altitude air reconnaissance, UAV, thermal imagery, night vision equipment and optics.

It's now about fighting insurgents, rebel forces, terrorists, trained, but poorly equipped third world armies. 99% of the missions are presence patrols or mounted raids. Most of these take place in urban areas. You don't need perfect camo that can make someone invisible from 3 ft away. All you need is a camo that can disrupt your outline enough to make you difficult enough to locate and shoot without detailed observation or optics. This is why multicam or even the ACU is a good choice for uniforms.

Think logistics! One set of uniform for desert and woodland means you can save on supply issues. That means more money, fuel, storage space, going towards the things that win wars - bullets, beans, water, and fuel!

... and when you open a desert/urban airsoft environment for me to play in here in Southern Ontario, I may take you up on that debate, but for now, I have nowhere to use my desert stuff, let alone Multicam.

... and I still think it looks like spilled paint.

hmm... that's the point of the camo, really. unlike the US brand, this camo is not about fashion. Although people have turned it into it. Just like low-waist jeans. They look like shit but somehow, everyone likes them...
