Yeah, I know what you mean. I've got a variety of pistols (well, 2 of them are Berettas, but one's a collection showpiece, one's a field gun). Still short of a 1911 or Hi Capa to "complete" that. Possibly an FN Five-Seven too just for more variety.
However, my AEG collection is not very varied. 3 Armalites is not much variety at all. I still want to get an MP5 and a P90 too, possibly also a G36 or an Aug too.. I may end up selling the HK416 sometime down the road, depending on how it treats me. I'd use that towards something else. Decisions, decisions....

WOW...you guys almost sound like you're complaining about how much you've spent in the first year. Just imagine how much guys like me have spent on airsoft goodies over the last 13 years....

If you're married and have kids...buy as much as you can as fast as you can...guns, gear, kit. Do so before your significant other has a full comprehension of how much you've spent on your new hobby...just so you can go "play with your friends". Because they'll try to shunt the spending to something that you can "share". Some guys play airsoft with their wives...that's cool...I don't.
Once you've got that base money sunk in...you can trade/sell what you can part with and buy/trade what you figure out that you need. Be smart and that same initial amount can go a long, long way for a long, long time. I think Crunchmeister went that route...but he hasn't stopped yet or else his wife doesn't look at the finances that closely! Anyway...yes...airsoft is expensive, don't dwell on it. |

It seems as if guys that have a P90 also tend to have an AUG, anyone else notice that? Maybe it's a bullpup preference...

It gets even worse when you decided that you need $200 case for each one of your aegs that has a custom cut foam insert.
With the amount Ive spent on airsoft to this date guns/gear/accesories, I could have a PTW or two, but its just not my thing. Airsoft can get expensive, if you let it.

Maybe it's an "different" gun preference. |

even though I figure I am some where around $10000. I don't think airsoft is that expensive, I guess it isn't like soccer. But I used to be on the national track team and I would get a new bike each year if not 2 at $6000 minimum. Plus travelling across NA. I find airsoft quite reasonable.
I also feel that you tend to go and blow your wallets load when you are new just to look at that shit a year later and think... why did I buy this. IE I have a set of NVGs I bought when i first started... I may use them once a season but i just had to have them when I started.. now I would never buy a set. Plus I am finding the more years I play the more refined my playing style gets there fore I don't experiment with equipment anymore. Before I bought my CIRAS I bought 3 other vests... each hangs in my airsoft closet now never to be used again. |

Yeah I keep a close eye on how much I spend because I too am in university and have expenses. I have spent roughly $1k. However, I am making sure that I don't go over that amount.
Yeah... big collections are awesome, but IMHO you only need one aeg and a pistol at the most. Maybe have one extra aeg as a loaner. I would like to have a XM177E2 and a Romanian AIMS as my collection. I have found that building your own gun can be a LOT cheaper. Plus, you appreciate your gun more after going through the pain of building it yourself |

over a year ive spent...
M14 - 800$ M92 + 2 mags - $420 magnum boots - $170 BDUs vest and all that crap - $350 M4 - 450$ M4 upgrades... - oh god...800$? roughly...(its still going up) G17 - 300$ USP Tactical - $250 G19 - $340 and the shopping list isnt done yet seeing as how its my first year. Final (for now) 3880.00$ ...lawl.... mind you i resold a bunch of that stuff...like the M14 and the USP, G19 + M92 So...that right there is a fair half of a car XD (or so) Or a the majority of a years worth of tuition. Honestly...I think after your first year(s) when youre figuring out what you want or like youll spend a bitchload...after you stop i dont think its too bad Last edited by Goodl2ussian; February 7th, 2008 at 01:36.. |
