Lovely! Would that be known as "Plastic Attack of the Gay Pride Parade" or "Airborne Rainbow Salad of Death"? Lol

Back on topic, I feel the box mag conversion isn't practical for mainly the reasons you describe, Stalker. By having an illuminator in the box you'd need to fire a long burst before getting any visible trace. Placing one in the connector would work but I don't fancy hacking that apart. A fifteen dollar magazine is one thing, a $120 box mag is another. Tracer BBs are also very expensive and my mag holds 2500 rounds, and I don't like the idea of "salt & peppering" my BB load because your tracer shots would be very inconsistent and make it much more difficult to aim. Lastly, we don't usually have enough night games to justify the cost in the first place.

Ibby!...Montreal?...WTF?...

OK, back on topic...I have both a tracer unit and a couple illuminated mags. I prefer the Unit to the Mags mainly because the with the mags the LED charges the bb's before they enter the hop-up whereas the unit does so after they've left it. This means that any bb's in the hop-up chamber ,waiting to be fired, will likely have gone dark by the time you fire them. Perhaps I'm nit picking but I want that first burst to glow damnit.

I'm not bothered by the muzzle flash as , was mentioned ealier, tracers work both ways. I would add that if you can see the flash from a tracer unit you are looking right down the barrel and a bb is already on the way, heh.

IMO what is more important than what you use to make your bb's glow, is your method of employment. For instance, if you are the only guy on the field to have one then you can expect every enemy who can see it to send a few your way. But if on the other hand your whole squad has them and you bump into the enemy, it will be a completely different story. You will be able to quickly concentrate your fires without the generaly associated CCC issues. You also would gain similar psychological benefits to yelling/communicating loudly and making it clear to your enemy that you are comming to f%#k him up. Basically Shock value.

Used wisely they can be alot of fun just try to avoid being the only one on the field.

Fair enough, I feel the same way about justifying cost. I think I attended one or two night games last year, year before maybe a half dozen. While I'd like to have some mags to use with tracer BBs (will consider making one), I'd much rather that than a tracer unit.

Doing up an illuminated box mag would be pretty straight forward. I'd use one of those little flourescent Coleman style camping lights, and put it in the bottom of the mag where the mechanism picks up the BB's. It would illuminate pretty nicely I'd imagine. I still love the tracer unit though, since you can turn it off easily.

Its best to use UV LED's, can be bought from many different retailers. Snagged mine from an Asian retailer $10 for 100 medium brightness LED's (not quite super brights but better than normal LED's.)

I'm snagging an illuminated mag but I'm also making an array of UV LED's that fit inside my silencer that I don't use and rigging it to a pressure switch (battery and everything will be outside the silencer.) If I like the silencer mod I'll just sell the illuminated mag but I want to see which I prefer. The silencer also gives me the option to fire the tracer BB's without light so they don't glow if its required.

It looks a lot more impressive when you come across a firefight 90 degrees to the shooting and a couple people one each side have tracer units.

Janman is 100% on the money with the mags vs. the TM tracer unit. The mag works great when you go full auto and get past the first four or so BB's but the tracer unit makes every shot glow. I think the Tracer unit is also brighter. I have one G&P mag and two TM Tracer Units and have a blast during night games even if it is just used to wake up your own team at 2:00am The price may be the factor as the TM Tracer Unit is $64.00 USD (before shipping) and the G&P mag is $24.00, again before shipping. Shipping is about $10.00 USD...not bad for the cool factor. I Have been paying $6.99 USD for 1000 .20g BB's plus $6.00 USD for shipping.

well i love the idea, but ive (along with peacekeeper) found that between three or four of us with metal bodies they didnt work. they flat out didnt feed. i dunno why and it could prolly be remedied but they only seemed to work on stock tm bodies, maybe someone can vouch/ disregard this, but i know four guns consistantly wouldt fire em. something to think about, buy/ borrow one and make sure first before you get a bunch. if they did fix this tho, id like to know as i want a bunch myself.
