I went looking around on the net Gen 1 night visions monocles can be pretty affordable found some for around 300 ish. The only problem is Gen 1 night vision still require some lighting like moonlight. On a perfectly dark night you won't be seeing anything through them unless you use an IR emitter. If you use an IR light anyone with night vision or a camera can see you. How about IR hand grenades. If enough people throw some than the enemy area will be pretty well lit maybe even 40mm IR grenades for those with grenade launchers. Even the guys with cheaper Gen 0's can be somewhat useful.
I too am sourcing out night-vision muhahaha In the works an Active IR Warning system starts beeping when someone trains IR light on you. Last edited by Kingsix; September 2nd, 2009 at 15:19.. |

I actually tried to set something similar up, with IR LEDs on my teammates (I'm one of two guys who consistently use NVDs here)
Haven't actually tried it yet, and I suspect the LEDs I purchased may be too dim to really be useful, but everything is setup for a run.

IR LEDs come in different wavelengths. The lower the better for NV viewing/illuminating. Your LEDs might not be "dim" so much as too high of a wavelength especially if the NV is older gen.

If it was in Septemberish 07, probably, fuck I wouldn't even fight back (much) if you were to go after me.
On a serious note, that would be a major safety concern, since even those LED torch lights could burn both the NVG tube and your retinas.

Some night vision devices have a bright light cutoff circuit to save the life of the tube and the users retinas.
