Might sound funny, but so far my favorite case is a soft electric guitar case.
It has 1" of foam on each side and has a metal loop at the end of the zipper travel to lock it. I don't have a car, so I usually have to take a metro ride to meet my lift for the games... You get a LOT less weird staring when you have a "guitar" than when you have a rifle case. I actually sat on it once... not long enough to break anything, but if something felt on it, there would definitely be damage. I have a 14.5" M4 with crane stock and a 3-9x40mm scope (full size, not mini). Also have a Gemtech G5 silencer (about 200mm long). I only have to remove the QD vertgrip to store it. |

I stopped by Bass pro mills but all the cases were very long which is understandable since they are meant to fit rifles.
I was hoping to find something a bit smaller (shorter) to carry a g36c / mp5 type gun. Any recommendations? |

I won't say whether or not you'll be able to find anything shorter, but a long rifle case isn't exactly a bad thing. In mine I fit my MP5, 5 mags, a bag of BBs, battery charger, BB loader, sling, Hicapa 4.3, 2 mags for that, and a taclight. Took some creative placing but it all fits. I thought I'd want something shorter too but I figured I'd be getting more gear eventually.
