Sweet outfit, Swatt.
I was gratified to see the last couple of seasons of SG-1 occasionally showed Army personnel in ACU (mostly as medics). Then the last couple of minutes of the last episode showed an SG team waking up the 'Gate ramp that was all Army. So I feel authentic. I suppose I need an ACU vest then. But I'd rther shift to coyote gear to wear with other camo or "civvie/contractor" type gear.

Yup, we're coming out of the woodwork up here. This was my set-up on this first afternoon-of-afternoons... It was cold and wet (hence the gators) but all in all a great first time out to try the new gear. I've got a the G&G M4, also from Ken at 007, with a D-Boys Crane Stock and D-Boys front end from ehobby. The Star 85rnd plastic mags only fed when you held the slightly forward, the D-Boys and G&G metal hi-caps worked fine.
We all play paintball up here, and are switching over to airsoft as it's cleaner, and we don't have to mess with gas - batteries are much easier. As for the PEQ mounting... don't you guys find that mounting it on your top rail interferes with your RDS? I'm reading "Masters of Chaos" all about Spec Ops in Iraq right now... in the book the picts the green berets with M4's they all had the left side mounting... not sure if for the same reason (sight picture). Cheers. |

thumb parallel to the barrel makes it easier to control everything while maneuvering the gun BUT with practice and a tighter grip wrapped around the foregrip is just as effective. So yeah is is mostly just personal preference. I like to hold it with my thumb parallel to the barrel too myself.

More picts of today
Yes, I know, -9 with windchill (-1 without) is too cold to play airsoft. Ah well. It lets us try out our cold weather camo...
A word on the gear: Frozen Tex has the Tad Gear "multi environment green" softshell jacket with the ACU bottoms. Gunscythe is in full mutlicam. I'm wearing mulitcam bottoms with a fleece that fits well, with homemade 4x2 mag shingles. In a few weeks we'll have some good gun-painting picts.
