total pea shooters. I know marui is the best but I don't need one for what I need a gun for.

And does anyone know any Echo1/jg retailers in canada?
I really wish people would get this "competative" airsoft out of thier mind. There's only good airsoft and shitty airsoft. Hell, most of us wouldn't even class the well D90 as airsoft. It would fall into the "crapsoft, clearsoft, shitsoft" catagory. Seriously dude, those guns are not anywhere close to being in the same league as airsoft. Most of them break after a few hundred rounds, and have completely plastic internals so they can't be fixed. Do you really want to waist your money on something you can play with for an hour?

There are several JG retailers, they're all on the classifieds here, and you're going to be spending a minimum of $300 on one.

Like surebet said, $200 isn't going to cut it. If what you want to buy costs less than that, it's not airsoft.

Expensive....you have no idea...Sobeys could basically pay me with Airsoft parts and guns as opposed to cheques. Being under 18 in Canada, there's not really much option for real airsoft guns. Sure, some of the cheaper ones are fun but once the initial excitement wears off you'll have a really expensive and broken toy.

It is. Like I said earlier, the accepted number to get started in it is $1,000. It can be done for less than that, but definetly not less than $500.

It is a TON of fun though. In Canada we try and regulate it to 18+. Even then, you won't be able to play a game until you're at least 16. I suggest you stick around and learn what you can until you're 18, save your money so that when you turn 18 you'll be able to buy a good kit.

My starting set was $450. That was VERY basic (and found through some good deals off the classifieds).

I probably would have spent at least $600 otherwise (without the patience to wait for deals in the classifieds).

In Van you should be able to get a good setup going for $350-400 if you don't mind renting things like masks, barrel condoms and if you can find someone to lend you some mags and extra random gear.

Also if all you're going to be doing is plinking, just go for it. Clearsoft/crapsoft is great for plinking. If you get Cansoft, you're starting to encroach on fieldable territory though. So the real question comes down to are you going to be plinking or playing?

Where in Van are you (you mentioned Gorilla)? If the NV field is still running Airsoft games I believe there it's 16+ (just rent from someone in that case).

Thanks for all the tips. Interesting stuff. But of all the guns I listed, the p90 is the one I want the most. I saw a Classic Army ca90tr on airsoft northwest for $170, would that make it across the border?

Oh, and Im in the surrey area

No, no gun will.

Wait, save up, get verified.

Or go play paintball.

Well... Considering that he's been here longer than you have.... Probably experience.

The companies that do sell outside of this forum (although mopic, 007 and shootsoft are affiliated with this forum) usually sell cheap clones and crapsoft.

(^^^ WOW, that came out wrong.... What I meant was you'll be hard pressed to find an online store who isn't affiliated with this forum in some way that sells quality guns in Canada).

SO. Don't mess around with the veterans if they are giving you good solid advice, maybe you should listen to them and take in what they've learnt from their experiences. You've only been here less than a month and you're trying to battle with people who've established themselves in this community? Not a very good idea.

EDIT: That was NOT meant to be a flame in any way. I am just trying to tell you to respect people who've established themselves in this forum and are well known and who have experience.

Any gun you order from the US will be siezed by customs at the border. You're looking at $450-$500 for a Classic Army P90.

There are some retailers on this forum who can get you a JGP90 for around $350, but you have to be 18 and age verified to access them.

How many times do we have to say it:

$200 will not get you into airsoft in Canada.

I'm Omemee1. Now this is the newbie tank is it not?, lets give the new starters of airsoft some real advice, theres nothing wrong with buying a $200 gun, I'm sure it will shoot just fine, even if it only last 6 months and has no upgradable parts, who cares..you live and learn, he obviously doesn't have $700 to lay down on a high end aeg, maybe you "veterans" should stay out of the newbie tank...

And where, exactly, can you get an airsoft gun for $200? And nowhere in this thread has anyone said to get a $700 gun... we've told the OP about the Kraken, which is around $200-$250, plus batteries, etc. That's as inexpensive as you can get in airsoft. That's fact. Sure, if you want to spend $190 on a piece of shit that will break in 2 months instead of $225 on something that will last much longer that's your business. But that's not airsoft, it's crap. New people who buy a shitty gun that breaks are not going to think much of the sport. Maybe when you've been around for a little while you'll get that. So be quiet and stop confusing the new people.

The newbie tank is for more experienced people to give sound advice to new guys. Not for new guys to spew disinformation at eachother.

This is the newbie tank...and sound advice is being given out.

Cheap, poorly made airsoft guns are a waste of money. They might shoot for a bit and then break quickly (or a long time...it's a crap shoot). But they're poorly made, the batteries that come with them are garbage and the chargers are more often questionalble than not.

The advice to "save up and buy a good gun" isn't priceless...it's worth $150-250 of hard cash. And if a guy is tight on that...it's not money that he has to "live and learn" with. I've "lived and learned" my way though $10K worth of airsoft stuff this year alone...not everyone can do that.

It's easy to piss away someone else's $200...you're not going to be stuck with a piece of junk in the end.

The "vets" have ZERO rewards for helping out others...and they don't get anything out of or learn anything from the newbie tank. They post up advice for guys starting out in the hopes that they'll save others from making mistakes that they lived through.
