I'm pretty sure soldering cells cuts a large percent of capacity each time it is done.

Howabout these guys for a custom/strange packs?http://www.cheapbatterypacks.com/?sid=1400130

Sanyo cells IMHO are probably the best. I learned the hard way about Intellect batteries. The ones I have owned have never been able to hold a charge and their overall life is significantly shorter than the more expensive brands. In this case you pretty much get what you pay for. I am by no means an expert when it comes to this but this has been my personal experience. As far as price goes...just check Ehobby the difference is significant enough to prevent some people from buying Sanyo cells. While Intellect are not the cheapest batteries on the market IMHO they are not worth buying if you have to go out and buy another sooner rather than later.

I agree with EX, intellects are garbage..G&P make a pretty good battery and the sanyo's I have haven't let me down either. IMO go for G&P best bang for your buck. keep an eye on ehobby and you should be able to find em pretty cheap..bought my last 9.6 nunchuck for 24 bucks.

Not sure about the new releases, but less than 6 months ago all Elite cells where rebranded Intellect cells.

I use intellect cells almost exclusively. Have never had anything like what you show, have never had any problems at all actually. They hold more capacity (usually at least 110% the rated amount) and maintain a higher voltage for longer (really important to R/C racing, not so much for us.) Also when I order custom packs, intellect tend to be one of the most expensive if not THE most expensive cells you can get.

Three out of my four Sanyo packs I have had (excluding PTW batteries since they are special) have had major issues, one being completely dead, the other two needing a lot of TLC from my fancy expensive charger on a regular basis. GP cells (NOT G&P, GP is a different brand) I have never had a problem with, neither with G&P.

The worst brand on the market in my experience is Tenergy, utter crap batteries. In my experience you are lucky if you get 2/3 the rated capacity and they often have a much lower voltage than normal. Recently I charged a friends 8.4V Tenergy pack and the voltage would not go above 8.6V when fully charged. A healthy 8.4V pack should have almost 10V output when fully charged, 9.6V packs around 11.5V when full.

Ex, almost all batteries I order from any of the Asian retailers (Redwolf, WGC, UNC, etc.) are fucked up out of the box. I order all my packs from cheapbatterypacks.com and they work flawlessly. They deal in only batteries so they have a rapid stock turnover where batteries from Redwolf or WGC may have been sitting on a shelf for 2 years without a charge. Storing batteries dead is incredibly bad for them.

Also just a heads up for everyone, Elite 5000mAh cells have a lower amperage draw than Elite's lower capacity SubC cells. Higher mAh rating does NOT always mean higher max amperage draw, especially within the same cell size.

I now swear by the elite cells from cheapbatterypacks.com.

I had an Intellect before. Maybe they are hit and miss because I had a 9.6V 4200 mAh large and it was ridiculously amazing. Held its charge very well. But then again I only used it for a season on very few cycles. It could have degraded quickly, for all I know.

Okay, heres a huge question to those that hate intellect:

Where did you buy your bad intellect pack from?

I'd say 2/3 to 3/4 of my batteries from redwolf, WGC, etc. are all screwed, regardless of brand, from intellect to G&P to Sanyo. Every single pack I have bought from cheapbatterypacks.com or other battery dealers that deal only in batteries is A+. Every intellect pack I have gotten from cbp.com is great.
