I have the M15A4 rifle and to this date, I feel it's the best airsoft gun I've laid hands on. It's outshot everything I've put it up against so far. It's solid and looks awesome. In terms or reliability, it's been excellent. It's had close to 30000 rounds through it so far, been gamed a few times, and I've had no problems with it internally or externally. I did install some Systema internal parts at about the 20000 round mark, and those parts (tappet plate and piston body) died within 500 rounds, and I replaced them with the stock parts and the gun is still going strong. I highly recommend CA guns.

Just so you know, version numbers are not incremential like patches or updates.

They are models of gearbox, just like a GM engine won't fit a Ford, or the opposite.

All AR/M4/M16 whatever are using version 2 mechbox, like most MP5s and G3 (Only MP5K and PDW use a version 3, and PSG-1 is a unique (Version 5 I think).

G36s, AUG, SIG, AK are using V3.

Famas is V1 (don't know any other guns that is still V1)

M14s are V7.

That is about it.

Some specific brands use custom mechboxes (ICS ARs use a split design mechbox that is based off a V2, you can't use a normal V2 or use an ICS mechbox in other rifles).

Higher is not better, it's just different.
