Nothing I hate more than hicaps.
GO PLAY PAINTBALL IF YOU WANT TO FUCKING RATTLE AROUND AND HOLD A "GUN" KNOBBISHLY! Like, nothing more hypocrytical than...."hey, look at my bad ass gear and untra realistic gun, not only does it sound like a sewing machine when it goes into action, but listen to me rattle and wind as I manuvour like a bad ass...." |

I get locaps when i can afford them. (Having just switched from an M4, with which I had 10 locaps to an AK, I currently only could afford a highcap.)
couple of reasons: 1)No rattling 2)Ammo concious, i worry more about making my shots count, and know when it's time to fall back and reload. 3)Realism. 4) If i need to, I can get a couple shots off lying down (my gun is sideways), doesn't always work with high caps 5) Reliability - they don't randomely unwind on me, and are more consistent. |

I personally don't have anything against them, if someone wants to use them, then good for you but I like realism of amo control and ripping a mag out in a gun battle. I almost laugh sometimes when I hear someone shoot at me with a highcap, and you usually can tell (with the group I play with anyways) cause the person with the hicap will usually pull the trigger and keep holder until they need to wind again, where as someone with a mid/low cap they will usally only give a burst since they know too much trigger time and your changing that mag again which could leave you in a bad spot specially if the person who is getting shot at hears that obvious empty sound (PTW's aside since they just stop shooting but thats another topic)

I got lazy using low and mid caps and sold them all but realized I need them. I am using my rattling hi-caps. I will switch back to low/mid.

Hicaps are a matter of personal preference, budget, and (sometimes) field/game rules.
If you like them, use them, but do not use them as an excuse to become a BB-hose. If you're on a budget, you only need one. They do rattle. If the games you attend are mostly milsims... dont buy one? Just check with the local groups and decide after. (EDIT: This was before the availability of affordable low-caps. Now you can get 10 or more lowcaps for under very little money) Last edited by Greylocks; October 8th, 2007 at 09:13.. |

I dislike them for 3 reasons:
1) You sound like a marocca running around with them 2) I like the realism of running out of ammo 3) A lot of noobs with hi-caps just like to hose -you can't do that with a 50 round mag.

I'll regurgitate what's already been said. I hate 'em because not only does the realism of having to reload go right out the window, but it also changes the tactics. And by that, I mean they just disappear. Nobody aims anymore, nobody has to take their ammo count into consideration...Airsoft basically becomes Paintball with nicer looking gear.
I don't "hate them" hate them...I'm the only guy in our group who doesn't use them, so it'd be one hell of a lonely game if I refused to play with those who do use high-caps. I just won't use them myself. |

I also don't like them because of the noise. It's hard to sneak around when you have a maraca on the bottom of your gun.

my team makes fun of me for using low caps...they call me fancy boy....

Tally up how much you've spent on ammo during the season compared to them. I bet when they learn you spent $150 less and had just as much fun they'll see your point of view

As a few other people have said before this. I like to make the experience realistic, part of that is reloading. Lo caps are not expensive so the cost issue is total BS IMHO, what I have seen people do is buy those cheap MAG midcaps and just fill them with locap capacity, which as far as I am concerned makes them a locap.
On another note as kind of a balance to make up for the fact they do not need to reload if you use a hicap you can only use one; whereas if you use locaps you can use as many as you can carry. |

I prefer locaps over realcaps, and I don't use hicaps except in a support weapon role. I like the idea of my AS gun performing like a real weapon; however, 7.62X54 rounds are not deflected by leaves or plastic sheeting in the real world. So for me, Locaps are about as real as it gets - 2 or maybe 3 bb's for every real-life bullet is a fair tradeoff when you are trying to punch through dense foliage or elephant grass to hit your target.
