I'm about to take a risk and order the high speed set from airsoftparts.ca. Will let you all know how they are in a few weeks. Also ordering that deepfire piston with all titanium teeth.

Are these compatiable with G&P or KA mechboxes?

Should work with KA and some older G&P mechboxes. the new G&P ones have extra material that interferes with the bracket, I believe.

I'm currently working with Modify to compile a list of gearboxes the current version of their gearsets are compatible with. Marui, ICS, VFC, Jing Gong, KA, Hurricane, and some G&P so far seem to be ok. Guarder V3 is ok, but Guarder V2 is not.

They are also currently working on a new version suitable for all gearboxes. Even a gearset specifically for the V6. No ETA as of yet.

These, unfortunately, turned out to be a huge disappointment for me. Maybe for a V3 gear box, but considering a reinforced mechbox is virtually unavoidable for most V2 power upgrades, and the Modify gears seem to be incompatible with just about any of those, it's pretty moot.

I took a gamble because their price was a bit cheaper (vs. gears and a set of bushings) but in the end it just wasn't worth it; whatever extra work is needed to shim the gears the "oldschool" way (~10 mins to do it right) would have been, in hindsight, negligible compared to the hassle I'm left with now.

It's really too bad Modify didn't bother properly researching this before designing and marking their product.

Their anti-reversal latch, on the other hand, is innovative. I ordered one separately for my box (hopefully that won't come back to bite me in the ass, too).

But as far as gears go, I'll be sticking to Guarder, Systema, and Prometheus; they've never caused me any grief.

I'd just like to add that the 7mm sets will NOT fit inside of Classic Army 7mm reinforced gearboxes. There is far too much "extra metal" in the rear of the gearbox, an area which is hollow in the TM boxes.

The amount of labour it would take to mill/grind out the gearbox would not be such an issue, except for the fact that CA also decided to add extra material around the individual gears, too, leaving raised areas on the inner face of the gearbox shell. Without a way to plane flat the interior "channels" of extra material, (ie: a home mill), it's simply too much work to even consider worthwhile.

It's less effort to buy a different set of gears, or a different gearbox shell.

Pity, too, as these are really nice gears. I'm going to put another set of mine in my super-shorty M4. I'll update when I get that done.

I'm actually considering chopping off the excess frame area on the gear set since nobody seems interested in buying them off me. Considering gearboxes have always run without the gears being in a frame, I doubt it's providing that much except holding everything in place when the gears aren't installed in the mechbox.

Yes, just make sure you get the set with 6.1mm bushings.
