I'm almost positive that CA chose to base their M14 on the G&G version, not the TM.

I'm still wondering about their reasoning for that...

It's been confirmed with photographic evidence that the CA14 uses a gearbox derived from the G&G14, not the TM14.

Other than the notch in the mag and assuming CA didn't drop the ball on the manufacturing, the report is that the G&G-based gearbox is a lot beefier than the version 7 and without all the external complexity.

Arnies report, real stuff starts from page 2: http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forum...ic=109613&st=0

Edit: After re-reading the thread, the CA14 has way more battery room than the TM14 ever did. My bad, sorry about the mix up.

I've been able to run a 2400 Nicad as well as a 3600 nimh in my TM, no problem, its a tight fit, but who doesn't like it tight though...

I fit a 3800mah 8.4v in my SOCOM only after taking the shrink wrap off and had to charge it inside the gun. I think TM was on the frugal side with their battery space.

You can run up to a 4500 mah 8.4 battery in the TM M14. And yes, its possible to put it in without removing the butt place and the shrink wrap

Not from my experience, unless your 4500mah cells are smaller than 3800mah Intellect cells.

So, we took 2 of the ones that were shooting poorly and put in a SP120 without changing too many things just to see how it would do. And, no surprise to us, they shot 330 fps with 0.2g bbs with SP 120.

Feeding is not the problem, we think the problem is at the nozzle or the hop up bucking or even the hop up unit. The airseal was fine at the cylinder unit.

By us saying this in the public will pretty much destroy the chance of us selling the remaining of our supply. But, we rather eat them for now and fix it after CA or Spartan figure out the problems.
Ouch. That doesn't bode too well.

Read the entire thread. AirsoftGI either got the only bad batch ever made, or they're not very good at gunsmithing.

the real question is... why would one get a CAM14 rather than a TM M14. my TM has given me nothing but the best of luck, save for one rain game. Ive heard horror stories about G&G's, and its hard enough finding mags for them.

Besides a larger battery compartment, why go CA?

I have a 4500 Elite 8.4 pack and it fits in with room to spare. Saint I don't know how you were putting your battery in but I've never had even the slightest issue with my TM Socom's battery compatrment.

Edit: Ooops didn't make the connection that this is a for sale post. Obviously not the best forum to discuss a gun that's not even on the table.

My wrong.

Hedonism, this isn't a for sale post. The reason I chose the CA was the price was much lower and the amount of metal to it. As for the Arniesairsoft bad batch, those were CA M14 Scouts, not the Match versions. I've heard nothing but good about the CA M14 Match and so I decided to pick one up.

I never thought that this thread would turn into such a debate....

Quote:
The CA M14 features a newly designed gearbox that has many parts compatible with other Japanese AEG aftermarket parts. The semi/full auto fire settings and the large 470rnd capacity magazine make it ideal as a suppot weapon or sniper rifle with its lengthy inner barrel. In addition the M14 Match replicates the functions of the M14 such as Moveable Cocking Lever, Bolt Cover, safety, and fire selector. All these features combined make the CA Full Metal M14 Match hard to beat.

Length: 112cm
Weight: 3800g
Magazine Capacity: 470 rounds
Muzzle Velocity: 320 fps
Battery Package Size: Large 8.4v
Package Includes: gun, magazine, cleaning rod, manual

New Design 7mm Oily Steel Bushing Gear Box
Moveable Cocking Lever and Bolt Cover
Metallic Hop-Up Chamber
Metal Spring Guide

This airsoft gun cannot accept a large 9.6v battery pack. It is unknown how compatible with after market parts this airsoft gun is at this time.

Simplier gearbox (not a direct clone of the G&G, CA has modified the design), tougher gearbox, stock metal bushings, higher stock FPS, way better external.

Open battery door and stick it in, obviously. Couldn't even get past the protective end caps on the Intellect battery.

I don't know what made me think this was the for sale post in the electric guns section.

Saint all I can say is I'm glad I didn't go with the Intellect pack.

Unfortunatly cheapbatterypacks.com does not seem to carry Intellect cells anymore so I can't compare the size.

I assumed the CA M14 would be more expensive than the TM. The price issue should probably cause alot of people to ponder whether or not the TM version is worth spending extra $.

The TM M14 SOCOM is the best airsoft gun I've ever used (my favorite). Too bad it's soo damned heavy. With the popularity of Armalite and MP5 variants i don't know if I'll ever get a chance to check out the CAm14 in person.

CA14 is cheaper than the TM14, even here in Canada.
