The cases used in Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis ARE Pelican cases, as are almost all hard case style cases in most TV series and movies. If you want bulky look at the Pelican 1550, 1600, or 1650. If you think the Pelican cases are thin check the external dimensions, even the smallest rifle case the 1700 is more than 6" thick, my Canadian Tire gun cases are only 4-5" thick. What sized gun are you putting in this case? If its only an M4, P90, G36c, or something else small you can get the shorter cases that are much deeper, only time your limited to the larger cases (1720, 1750, etc.) is when you have a long rifle like an M16, G36, M249 Mk.II, M60, etc.

I still am waiting for a quote for the 1750 case. Got a BA sniper... I don't want to have to disassemble it everytime I store it.

I know a guys that buys around 20-30 cases a week from them... so he gets a good price (and sometimes free cases too)

I held one of these cases and I can tell you.. you can run over it with a F350 loaded with plywood. We did it and the case did not even bent. Very impresive...

Some times you can get am for a steal on eBay, saw one once for US$150 shipped, new, but they only shipped with UPS.

Currently looking at getting one of these

tad cheaper than buying from a Canadian retailer, not much but hey, its OD!

DarkAngel, I'm starting to doubt that you've read what the people are trying to tell ya here; STAR based theirs off the Pelican, the Pelicans are trice the price because they are ten times better. Pelicans come in a huge assortment of sizes, everything from one big enough to store a wrist watch all the way up to store 6 or so M4's.

Pelican doesn't make its cases simply just for rifles and pistols, they make their cases universal that anyone could use them for just about anything. In fact saw this new Carry-on time and now me wantee:

And for a pistol case whats wrong with this one?

It'd be about the same size as my double pistol case and I could fit two 5.1 Hicappa and a G26 in mine; albeit a snug fit.

More info on the 1450:
# Outside Dim.: 16" L x 13" W x 6 7/8" D.
# Inside Dim.: 14 13/16" L x 10 3/8" W x 6 " D.
# Colors:

Black Silver Yellow Orange Desert Tan* OD Green*

Thumbs up X-treme Cases

There is also a line of cases by X-treme Cases, they are similar to Pelican but much less in cost. They are also indestructible and have the pick-and-pluck foam for your handgun. You can find them online at http://www.northstarcases.com/produc...tol+Cases.aspx

OOoooh! i see now I was reading the posts, the cases just look a bit different. And alot of the pics of them on the site show the inside only, not the external. Also im having difficulty telling which of these cases are rifle cases and which are not. So far ive seen 3 Rifle cases (Including the 12 rifle case) but i havent seen any "actual" pistol cases though i see many which could be used as one. Do the foam inserts come precut? or does everyone cut their own foam inserts, and how can i do it to look professionally done. (I hate hacking and slashing foam)
Im really liking the idea of getting a nice Pelican case for my pistol first since the Rifles ones seem REALLY expensive for me atm. But ive went through the Diff Pelican Cases from the Custom Case co link and i have a ruler here with me. Ive looked at the inner size and measured my pistol but I realized i wanted somethign bigger. I was hoping to put 3 mags and a Star QD6 Laser/Taclite Unit Detached with the pistol as well. Im using my rifle case to transport my Pistol atm. Also the reason i like deep cases is cause i have the Guarder padded Extra Battery + 5.56 Bullet holder cheekpad on my stock, and while thats on, I have to force the case closed to lock it so for now i have to remove it when i lock my gun up or transport it. Im really looking to get them in the future tho. Thanks to all that replied Ive learned alot about Gun Cases that id never learn anywhere else. Much Appreciated to everyone.

Cheers!

Edit: Oh wow, that case is perfect size and only 130$ *shock*
i dunno how i missed that. thanks Ill start saving for one

If price is your issue then take a look at Hardigg Storm Cases. I have one of their rifle cases for my M4 and the thing is rock solid. Its a bit lighter in weight than my friends Pelican version, but it is cheaper and supposedly just as solid. Another friend of mine got one to test and evaluate when he was in the military and we beat the crap out of it. I live on the 3rd floor and we were throwing it to the ground loaded with some of my dumbell weights. The thing didnt crack or even scratch (although we only threw it onto my driveway once and into my yard many times). The foam inside is different though. I know Pelican uses a pick and pluck foam which allows you to just pick out the hollow points. It seems like an easier way but I cant complain after seeing the price difference. I would shop around too. I found that their prices aren't consistant between all of their distributers and I got it cheaper at this site: http://stores.homestead.com/Laruetac...tail.bok?no=59

To those of you who own the the 1750 case, would you be able to cut into both sides, essentially doubling the carrying capacity? I'm planning to have my sl9 and g36c in one half and mags and accessories in the other, but before I commit to getting the case I want to know if everything will fit first.

acidfire...I just measured my Hardigg and, from what I have read online, it has thicker internal dimensions than Pelicans 1750. I dont think you would be able to put 2 guns inside without sacrificing padding. I could probably fit 2 rifles in my case but I would need some sort of retention to hold my rifle in place on the lid and would have maybe a half inch or less padding between my rifles and the case itself. If this is for storage and transportation then I am sure that this is more than enough. I have read in forums that people epoxy webbing to the inside of their cases and add velcro for use as retention but I have only seen this used to hold mags in the lid. Multiple straps will probably be necessary in order to hold a rifle. Hope this helps buddy!

heh, thanks pokie but I meant both guns on one side and the mags and bits on the other :P and if i were to cut into the lid for retention i'd make sure the fit was tight enough to keep everything in place

both on one side eh....i havent seen a case that can do that. i have seen the pelican ones that hold like 8 or so m4s but its crazy expensive and somewhat overkill for what youre going to use it for. Maybe you can look into the specs of the military type cases...they might have some that will fit an m4 or two...

I have a Pelican case for my shotgun and match rifles. Personally, the pressure valves, and foam, and locking latches are pretty nifty to have. However theres one major set back besides the price of the Pelicans... They're heavy as #@% to carry around. No problem if you're driving but if you ever had to commute, its a pain in the ass to lug around. I have another case purchased from marstar that is similar to the pelican with its features, but is a fraction of the cost and weight.

As for pistol cases, you're best bet is any gun shop. They usually carry a variety of hard cases along the lines of what you're looking for.
