ok well im glad that some 1 asked this question.. working with with ppl who deal with explosives and working with them my self now i have come across a fair bit of info. first firecrackers in canada are illegal.. 2nd makeing any form of pyrotechnics is illegal, wether it be smoke bomb, or some form of charge to throw bb's everywhere, or just playing with some left over gunpowder. u need a pyrotechnics licence to be able to do this. not the display fireworks licence. 3rd throwing any form of explosive designed to dispell "shrapnel" (bbs in these cases) is not safe. the concusive wave from the dispeling charge can do serious damage even if it is not superfisal. 4th pyrotechnics have a half decent chance(pending on the season) to start fires or bring unwanted attention to our endangered sport.

thats just my 2cents

Yep, but even the Pyrotechnics certificate has limited value in the production of articles. You must be of the Special Effects Pyrotechnician class which means a minimum of four years of verifiable employment in the SFX industry and progression through the Assistant and Pyrotechnician classes. My boss is the only one on our staff that is an SFX Pyrotechnician, the rest of us are all Pyrotechnicians or Assistants. I've also got my Level 2 fireworks card. To properly and legally manufacture explosive devices you require a factory license and further have the article approved by CERL.

Very informative. So if I wanted to use grenades, where could I find some, and where could I also get smoke grenades?

The foam ones from MM will leave a pie-plate sized welt on a big man at 20 feet. I think the rubber job would be a severe projectile on a human, but nice for anti-material use.

We've talked a lot about pyro grenades but if CO2 gas or any other gases could be used would it be safe and legal to use? Here i'm not talking about the weight factor that maybe involved in such a device, this being in a different part of the problem of creating a grenade expelling BB's. This question is especially directed to Gryphon and Malachite who seems to have a good experience with Explosives.

These have been around for awhile...

You can't tell me that THESE are illegal at games... safe as they are?

That would be helli-lame.

The AG-01 grenades are perfectly legal, as are any others that use CO2 or propane, etc. to expel BBs. I have a TG6 Thumper grenade that is powered by CO2 and is absolutely fantastic. It's expensive and not the kind of thing you want to toss into thick bush, but it's a terror in CQB. The burst diaphragm "cap" can be filled with BBs and it creates a hell of a spread.

I keep telling people to check these out but the same ones that'll drop hundreds or thousands of dollars on guns and gear won't buy a reusable hand grenade for $120. That's ok though, just means more fun for me.

I've seen them used. They are, excuse the pun, hit and miss. We play on a mostly bush field and so they tend to hit a branch and explode on impact. Although I have seen them used to good effect in certain scenarios.

LOL Simon I almost bloody "killed" myself with the AG-01 last game.

As you said that was the special "silence of the branch" effect
