DIY BB catcher/plinker thinga-ma-jig

I've been thinking of something I've wanted to build for a little while now.

After watching the magpul videos and then running around the house clearing room to room, pretending to be Costa . I though how cool would it be if I could hear the ring of steel when bb's hit on target, without sending them right back at me.

please forgive my ms paint skills, it is rough sketch and not to scale, its just mean to illustrate my idea which is not my own but an amalgam of other things I've seen done.

the goal is to be light, portable, adjustable, catches bbs with no ricochets and ring like "real steel". I would like to make three or four and set them up shoot house style.

The only problem with your design is if you don't shoot directly at the front of it. Otherwise you're going to get nasty ricochets that could come out of the enclosure.

Yup, unless he uses thicker paper in front like the targets I'm using, they'll deflect the BBs inwards if they try coming out due to a ricochet.

maybe a layer of cardboard behind the target paper? I was hoping the angle of the rear plate will bounce them down into a fabric and foam catcher of sorts

I think the very best idea to avoid any ricochets coming back from inside the box is what some had said and that is using an old blanket or thick towel and draping it from top to bottom about 2-3 inches from the rear of the enclosure. The material will absorb the bb and fall right to the bottom, not to mention that it is near silent.
