Strange - I was having a similar issue with an ICS lower gearbox in a metal body- the minute I would tighten the grip on everything went to shit and the screeching happened - and yes it was a 2006 model and I was using a magpul miad grip. The lower gearbox was the standard metal tho (not black.)

I'm still having the issue so im going to try some electrical tape on the underside of the gearbox to see if that helps.

Would electrical tape on the bottom really do anything since the rear receiver pin as well as the mag release are still holding the gearbox to it's 'only' possible position?

EDIT:

So I placed the cansoft lower receiver back on the gun with the metal upper still intact.

It's the same level of mesh. My stripped piston isn't getting more or less stripped, the sound is the same. What does that conclude? Does that mean that I need to order a new ICS lower gearbox made for non-cansoft guns so that it meshes a lot higher?

I also added some photos of the strip-age Hopefully that'll give you guys an idea on how bad it is. One with flash and one without. Sorry in advance for the phone shots, I really couldn't be bothered to set up the tripod, dslr, and bounce flash as well as crop the photos before I upload them.

SECOND EDIT:

So yeah, I decided to go ahead and try the electrical tape trick anyway.

2 layers of electrical tape, and the second gentle tap (keyword, gentle) with the handle of a screwdriver onto the receiver pin and this is what I end up with:

I am once again in the market for a metal lower receiver, lower gearbox, and piston.

My SRC AK47 also needs internals. FML...

Oh man, that does suck.
One of my M4s is a cansoft ICS that was probably manufactured after 2006. I head out to Toronto every week or two, so if you do find another metal lower, and it doesn't fit, I can bring out my M4, and we can try swap internals and see if they fit. Assuming your lower gearbox fits in mind, I don't mind swapping.
