I used to have one of ARES M4's it was fantastic, never had a problem, some minor things i changed but that was to fit my own need and not to replace a broken part, the ONLY reason i dont have it anymore is because I wanted a 416....

I love my ARES M110 SASS. What I hate is the proprietary mags for it. Havent seen 1 in stock on any website since I got it about 6 months ago.

From everything that ive heard, and then from using a friends g36c and another teammates tavor tar-21.
Those are really the only two ares guns i would use as of yet. I look at it this way, irregardles of what i buy, eventually im replacing the internals anyways, so having quality externals that will last, and wont snap super easy if i do something stupid and trip over my feet only to land on the gun, is pretty high up on the list. making the replacement internal parts for proprietary parts, more available to consumers would be a great move to start with and then if the gundocs are noticing the stock internals are really having that many problems in terms of quality, definately upgrade the quality of the stock internals even if it means raising the base price of the weapons a bit, adding that long term reliability would be huge kudos to you guys for actually putting yourselves out there on what can sometimes be a volatile set of forums, im sure you will get lots of feedback that should be able to help you guys out in the long run

I agree, if there is the need of making a part propietary, for god's sake... make it of good quality! Real Sword is a good example. Even though they pretty much only use propietary parts in all their guns, they are made of such a nice quality that the customer overlooks this fact and is confident to buy their products.
Kudos for Zshot for making this thread !!

I had owned airsoft of many brands, and I only prefer to play airsoft in their stock condition. Ares is the brand which offers unique models e.g. DSR 1, w2000, TAR, M200, SL8, with fair performance out of the box, and pretty good craftsmanship.
And the price of their recent release has gone down quite a bit. So with so many unique models and offers, I disagree with any conclusive negative comment about Ares. I will certainly add their M3A1 + PPSH to my WW2 arsenal. |

I have a few Ares AEGs (FNC, L1A1, M3A1). All of them perform to expectations. None have given me issues yet and all worked out of the box. The only aegs that have given me out of the box problems were Real Sword Type 56-1, A&K M60VN, King Arms FN para long length and my VFC BAR.
I do have concerns about getting spare parts for the Ares models when they do break. I thought all the crapping on the Ares M3A1 was way over the top. It shoots straight and has surprising range considering its 340 fps. It also quite solid and robust in the field. I took advantage of the Redwolf 3 mags + 4 battery package and now have 10 mags. Didn't break the bank. The ICS M3 looks kinda toyish and that hi cap mag it comes with doesn't really turn my crank. |

Most of the ignorant bashing of ARES on youtube is more or less a bunch of rampant 14 year olds pissed off that their parents wont fund the costs of a more 'expensive' (More than a 100 bucks in most case) investment in airsoft.
Personally, I don't mind ares at all. While I enjoy the unique selection they often bring up, I cant really put much confidence in the excess of propietary pieces and lack of replacement parts for such. |

I've owned an ARES WA2000, which apart from the bolt-action implementation, was a great quality rifle. Didn't have any problems with it while I had it.
I currently own an ARES SL8, which has decent build quality but QC could use a little more work (my front handguard is all wobbly and creaky). Can't comment on the internals yet. I guess I'll find out over time. One thing I will rant about is whatever happened in the HK factories that screwed up production of the ARES SL9. I had one on preorder for months before I cancelled it and went with the SL8. Something about a broken mold or big production problem. When asked for an estimate, all retailers say 'next couple of months'

I have no experience with ARES, but I can tell you that there where 4 of my teammates that were interested in them and all 4 bought other guns because of the proprietary parts and lack of stock on parts for them locally. So I would say that that alone is some good feedback on what most think of ARES.

As far as I know, most of the ARES proprietary parts will be available for Canadian by Dec. if not earlier with their Canadian distributors ---> Continxxxxx Ultxxxxx Inc.<-- I dun think I can put their name on because they are not with ASC, but if you want to know the name of it, pm me, especially if you looking for the parts, I can give you their contact.
As for the reliability issue, I believe its older model, most likely before they separate before STAR. I believe the newer (2011 and up) production is way better compare to prior 2011 production. Also, 1 thing that take into consideration is that all of the internals with the new Canadian distributor, they are all upgraded to support the stronger spring, and as far as I know, they are "TRIPLE TESTED" prior to shipping. first test at factory with the signature of the technician second test was done once the distributor receive the guns third test was done by the distributor prior to shipping and i believe some retailer test it in front of the customers as well, so I don't see any problem of the reliable issue with 2011 and up productions. I must say knowing some insider news from them, their boss is a gun fanatic, he tries to pay attention to the detail as much as possible. Plus most of the people I met are satisfy with what they get for the external, and aside from waiting for special parts internal seem fine. Also, as for the GI youtube thing, I personally don't "buy" it at all, its more like car magazine, its a bias thing plus they are sponsored by manufacture like G&G and Echo 1! Anyhow, I still think the grease gun mag is kinda stupid for ARES, but at least its an original concept, must give points to that. Further more, with their retail price, I think its quite reasonable for what you get. Especially for their G36 faimly, I would take one of them over those VA stuff anydays, at least they are full black with ebb....lol just my 2 cents, thx for reading, I know I might get grill on here, but honestly I support original and innovative design. |

Yup you are correct. The new 2011 Ares models of M4's are made with much better metal. I currently have two and bought them back in june this year.

I dont "HATE" but being able to reconmend to someone....... that is harder due to the proprietary parts.
Right now I own 2 ares guns (M14 EBR, and L85) , and would look at a third either PGM, or L96. my main issue is that getting parts is a pain in the arse, and the amount of proprietary parts drives me nuts, the M14 i needed to get shooter mags for it. I love the look, and the wieght, but trying to find the sniper rifles are not easy. bring in the guns, the parts, and put the cost to replace items in a range that makes it easy for me to say "Yes" when i am buying a new gun. I like my ares, now my friend had the PPSH and he had many issue's as he tells me. I look at ares though like buying a car. people like certian brands for reasons sometimes they cant even explain, and others hate those same brands for the same reason.....
