You remove the belt, pull the charging handle and catch the chambered round before moving (if it falls into the hot brass it can cook off). Other than the heat involved it was not bad to change the barrel. Having the extra barrel handy was more of a hassle.

The little brother GPMG with it's full jacket was more a hassle to swap barrels on.

I will be putting it on a tripod with shield. Kinda like this.

The gun itself is on hold for a week or so while I wait for my new lathe to come in. The receiver is done. The picture really doesn't do it justice. I'll be working on the mount and tripod over the next week. Internals (v7 box with m16 length barrel) are due to come in any day.

The steel one I have planned, I'm expecting to weigh at least 60 pounds. The real gun weighs (80lb)?ish, so that will be fine.

If you make your own, I'd recommend buying both killbuckets plans, and kaos' link. They both contain good parts, but leave crucial stuff out.

Still waiting on the lathe. Have the cocking handle in place, and have started work on a mk93 mount for the gun.

Internals came in, rigging them up now. Having OK luck with a butter knife and some hose clamps to keep everything lined up, but will be replacing those soon.

My original plan was to rig the cocking handle to a broken Hicap to feed the gun, but there is surprisingly little room inside. Likely going to stick it at the bottom so you can wind the mag directly from the receiver, but I might make a little hopper to store a couple thousand rounds.

I think the main issue is going to be dealing with the stresses of combat. There isn't much holding the spade grips on and I feel like they want to break loose. A couple L brackets should take care of that.
The trigger assembly is cut. Once that is installed, the gun will be fully functional minus the outer barrel.

I feel kind of silly setting up the internals, considering the inner barrel (m16) barely makes it 1/3 of the way down the outer.

Try a Madbull 650mm inner barrel, on my M240B it reaches just past the muzzle so the barrel is showing half way in the bird cage

I'm modifying the barrel, so the mechbox sits farther forward. It will put the inner barrel a good deal further.

The firing assembly is done, tried it out, shoots pretty well. Have to chrony, I might have a leak in the hop that I will have to take a look at.

Kaporal K's set up. hand built mounted on a swivel - you can close the door - open up at engagement get big mama out and let her spit at your enemies.

He did an incredible Job - totally reliable

I'm unimpressed by machines guns in general. But this one being a replica of a .50 cal, it's psychological, I had the feeling it could harm me. (o:
