Yes a Gear Box will be fine to bring across.

That being said, I've put my JG guns through hell that would have probably killed most other guns, and they've performed flawlessly. Whether I got lucky or that's a common trait with JG, I don't know.
JG is actually surprisingly good for their price, and my CYMA AKs-74u is also awesome, not sure about other CYMA's though.

You know you can bring back everything except the body essentially.

Gearbox, barrel, the non restricted part of the receiver (the part with NO serial number on real steel counterpart), stock, optics, rails, flash hider etc.

After that it's all a matter of getting a new body in Canada.

In addition you can probably bring in every piece of gear you need too. Vests, mags (WITHOUT dummy rounds inside), BDU's, helmet, goggles etc.

Well I have been looking at gear and everything down here in Florida before coming back...I have also been looking on ebay.

I live near Square one in mississauga, so to anybody that plays around there what kind of gear do you have? I personally really like the swat/black look, but I am wondering if many of the areas we play in would maybe be better suited for a green/camo kinda look.

Also, do games often have rules as far as magazines? Should I be buying mostly large cap mags or regular? Is there a limit to how much ammo you can carry?

Also for gloves, I have not found much in stores..So I have looked to ebay. What would you guys recommend from the following, or is there something else I should be looking at?

If you're planning to buy a common variant of airsoft (ie. M16/M4/AK styles), you can save a ton of money while you're down there.

Pick up a TM gun (for reliable internals), throw away the plastic body and bring everything else across. When you get here, pick up a metal body (I think Huang sells them) and you now have a reliable gun with a metal body for half the price.

You can find a dis-assembly guide here:
http://www.mechbox.com/

--or if you're not very dexterous--the airsoft shop you purchase from may do it for free if you let them keep the plastic body (Which they may use for repairs or other goodness).

It isn't the gearbox that will be seized. It is the receiver.

I dont know my way around Toronto or the GTA but I believe that the place to play is TTAC which is an indoor field so the tactical swat look should be fine.

However I have heard of outdoors games so it really depends on where you think you'll be playing most.

There usually aren't ammo limits for skirmish games so you can run hi-caps mid-caps, low-caps, and as many as you want. Whatever it's fine, Where it gets tricky though is when you play at larger milsim and scenario games. The individual games may have ammo limits for example 8 low-caps or 3 mid-caps and no hi-caps allowed.

Also keep in mind that hi-caps are generally looked down upon. They rattle (because it's feeding from a well and not spring fed like in the mid or low caps), and you also have to wind them constantly.

I say to be safe buy a box of 10 low-cap mags and pick up a few mid-caps. If you really want I believe that when you buy a gun they sometimes include a hi-cap mag so you don't really need to buy a hi-cap plus chances are you won't use 300 BB's in a single match.

Well for gloves depends how much you're willing to spend. I mean there ARE offering from places like 5.11 Tactical, Tactical Tailor, Wheelers/CP Gear and the like.

What I have at home (haven't tried it with my gun) is actually some Watson Gloves that I picked up from a hardware store for like $12 +tax (I swear though that they were meant for biking). If you pick up some low profile gloves you can probably leave the fingers on but for other gloves you might be better off cutting the fingers off.
