FRS -> UHF

I have a UHF radio that I'd like to program with FRS channels. Problem is, my radio is programable to 3 decimal places....and from what I can find online, FRS frequencies are to the 4th.

So...can I round up or down, or am I fucked?

Mine is only programmable to 3 decimals as well, but it just tacks the 4th on automatically because it's always a 5. You should have no problems programming with 3.

Okay I just realized that I can't even accurately put in the 3rd decimal place. My choices are 0 or 5. ie. 462.110 or 462.115 ....

That might pose a problem. This is a list and as you can see, the third digit can be 2 or 7. Fifth digit is always 5.

You should be ok, since frequencies are like precision mesuring.

If the FRS channel is, in example: 400.2500 and you broadcast to 400.2505, the FRS radio might hear you, and you will hear him, unless your radio is set to filter very tightly those frequencies.

FRS radios don't usually have a tight filter.

That's why you sometime have interference with 2 channels that are set to frequencies close to one another.

Well I figured out how to change the frequency step size, which allows me to enter the exact frequency. Unfortunately it won't let me program it into a channel memory for some reason...only manual entry.

Okay I got it all figured out. It would have been awesome if they told how to do it in the manual....

lol dude i got my linton lt 6288 last week, i coulda told ya how to do all that. Great radio by the way, very compact and attractive.
