British SAS Kit Ideas?
I want to create a kit based on the boys at Hereford.
Just don't really know what route to use, since I know barely anything about British kit whatsoever. US is another story however. Anyways... I want to buy an Arktis OPs vest but checking the tag it seems to be 230ish in pounds. Too much for what I want to spend, even though I would like it. Now were talking real gear if at all possible, no knock off shit unless the quality is there. So what are my options. Do I give flecktarn a shout and go with a wyvern yoke and a basic belt kit or is there other options. What this vest will be used for... Albeit a realistic loadout, but these are must haves for it. minimum 8, m16 mags. one canteen radio pouch(linton, so small but think realistic) map carrier, etc. no dump pouch's for gods sake if i get the pistol and actually get it set up, then i'll need a proper field used holster/pouch for it and 2 to 3 additional mags. ...and for shits and giggles, i'd like a GP pouch. AND IN DPM!!!! go figure. Lerch, maybe you can help me out with this. |

As always the question is, SAS doing what? CT, VIP protection,
That said http://server14.web-mania.com/users/redtroop/Index2.htm Is a pretty focused group of reenactors with SAS kit. http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forum...owtopic=102475 Has a good run of various pics also. |

Don't worry about Arktis these days, not used much anymore aside from their old chest rigs with are ally as fuck.
To start you off though, here's a good guide for anyone wanting to do a British impression. http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forum...topic=98915&hl I like the classic kits, personally there's nothing more 'SF' then getting some comfortable clothes, toss in some DPM (either trousers or a windproof) and put on your vest overtop. Like I've had hordes of different British rigs, one of my favorites being the HM Supplies chest rig. Issued rigs are top notch too, be it the assault vest, chest rig or even webbing (old but still good). If you need more info on any rigs or opinions/feedback on something that catches your eye, ask away. Anyway, onto the classic pictures; Civvy or P85 windproof, S95 trousers, hiking *****, PLCE OPS vest or chest rig. Civvy shirt, 5.11 trousers, 5.11 vest or similar. Low drag as fuck... Tropical hat, shirt, trousers, jungle boots, PLCE webbing (balanced and worked in to user preference). ALLY AS FUCK! But if you wanna get a MOLLE rig for the kit... I'll let you figure that one out not my cup of tea...

It would be jungle, or in my case boreal forests, lol.
In which case RAVS and the like won't do me any good. I've got an issue Eagle RG RRV but want to look a bit more authentic so to speak, even if it is SAS I'm modeling. I'm thinking that PLCE is the way to go, either belt kit only or that OPS vest. I'm going to take a boo at ebay, maybe. |

www.eBay.co.uk is tops for finding that stuff cheap, I got my basic set of webbing for about $100 or so. Just stay away from Webtex and you'll get some quality kit
*edit* If you do get the webbing, you can use the 'brecon pouch' for dumping your mags, simply unzip your smock a bit or unbutton the top of your shirt and drop the mags down your chest till you have downtime to retrieve them.

Who's Sgt Dirt nap in Brandon?
http://cgi.ebay.com/U-K-British-Forc...QQcmdZViewItem I wore belt kit for sometime and never reached the point of being happy with it even with stuff that was modified well beyond what was "OK". One set for Parade, and another for the field. The various vests are a dream compared, but if you're going for a specific look then they may be a no no. |

The ops vest just comes down to preference and the operations you're on.
If you're motorized then you're gonna want something without kit on the back and the vest and chest rig do just that. But chances are you're gonna be on your feet alot more so the webbing is a better choice since it'll also give you modularity. Usual layout for the webbing is ammo pouches on left and right side, with either four waterbottle or utility pouches (or both) around the back. Regular yoke and a sandbag rolled ontop of the pouches. If the four pouches makes the belt too big grab a hippo pad to fill in space. Just try and not put the resi pouches on your belt unless you're a wanker Oh yeah, get a good bungee cord and lace it through the utility pouches to keep them from bouncing around. If you're gonna run for the vest, there's different options and makers, the PLCE OPS vest being the most common, and often having small mods like radio pouches, ammo pouches, Camelbak clips. Chest rigs are fun too, 9 mags up front, water bottle and some food on the sides.
