Okay I'm going to give these a try...maybe.
Consider shooting the V shaped vents from point blank? Anyone? From side and "into" the vent...

never try it but i believe even the bbs fragments wont easily get through the vent...
EDIT: this is the best goggle so far i've had because it's cheap, military standard, no fog (unless you wash it like i did, so stupid), 2 lenses, cool design... what else?? Last edited by pamparius; August 22nd, 2008 at 06:05.. |

Quick takes
I didn't really need them, but I was over at Jugglez's place last night and bought a pair. Did some research before hand as well.
The surplus, and consequent low price, is due to the maker producing multi-thousands of these for desert storm and not selling them. Only TAN is available at these prices because that is what is in surplus. Jugglez's price rules...these are still selling for the same or more otherplaces. He brought in 60 and is down to about half that many left. General Points of Interest Fit: I'm asian and have the asian-no-nose-bridge syndrome...and unless you cinch these goggles down tight, there is a pretty significant gap right at the bridge of the nose. Put on loosely (way looser than you'd ever actually wear them) I could get my pinky up under the google to almost touch my eye (I'm not some kind of asian contortionist and have big stubby hands). Cinched down, the gap is less noticeable and very similar to most paintball goggles that I've tried. Air circulation: These things ROCK. Just walking (steady, normal walking pace) around his place, you can feel the current of air on your eyeballs. I put my hand over the top fins and repeated the walk-about...less air but definitely way more than I've felt from walking around with my JT Flex 7's. Air Circulation Fins: Neat design. There are slanted/directional fins on the outside of the top and bottom edges of the goggles. There are also fins on the corresponding inside edges of the frame. The air/dust/debris path switches as it goes from the outside to the inside. I'm not sure how good it'll be at preventing small "floating" particulate (i.e. fine dust that would be kicked up from behind a truck driving on a dirt road), but more substantial "trajectory" particles don't have a clear shot into the googles. The fins are hard plastic and molded as one piece. They fit very securely (I couldn't easily pry them out) into the frame (and is probably why the frame is so stiff). ADD Summary Pros: - GREAT air circulation when moving...air circulation when static prone remains to be seen - 3mm lense is freaking hard! - passed the breathing-like-a-pervert-on-a-brothel-window test without a trace of fog - tricked-out carry bag and extra lenses - super low price - quick detach system is trick...and seemed to work well Cons: - I hate tan. For the desert it's fine, but for the fields around here it's stupid - they are meant for helmets and so are very "wide" at the temples...lots of strap (which might be a pro if that's what floats your boat). - poor asian fit...might be able to fill the nose gap with more foam. - very stiff...there's very little flex with these Unknown: - durability of anti fog coating...from what I've read, do not wipe with anything. Do not use anything but plain water to rinse them out, shake and let air dry naturally. - long term comfort - field test of fog resistance - Don't ask me if they fit glasses, if they fit certain helmets, if they can be spray painted, if they stop 400fps bbs....I don't know. - Don't ask for pics...google images is your friend. |
