That will make no difference. You can't bring a prohibited or restricted rifle up here to hunt, no way, no how. Even if it's perfectly legal in the state you come from.

A replica is prohibited. There is no way an individual can bring one into Canada. And the CBSA determines what is a replica. I fail to see why there is any question or misunderstanding about this.

Not entirely true. If an individual has a permit to import prohibited items, it's a piece of cake. Getting such a permit on the other hand, isn't.

And what individual has those? Not very many, and at any rate, you still can't hunt with them.

Don't mean to thread jack but what about internal canadian flights? Someone stated before that you can take them as checked luggage but would you not need a PAL etc. to go through all the correct procedures? Or is just a locked gun case and all the other basic safety procedures enough?

There's a whole thread on this. In short, no, you don't need any paperwork for internal flights. I bring airsoft guns home with me when I go to Vic all the time, never had one problem with the airlines. Once they wanted me to fill out a firearm tag, but when they saw they were BB guns they said never mind. The thread on it is here: http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=6034

Ibby, are you talking about a license to import prohibited firearms, or prohibited devices? If you're talking about the latter, no individual can possess one. Only a business can, hence the term "Business Firearms License". And individual can own a business and the business can possess the license, but the individual can't possess the license.

And a 12-class license is even more rare, and getting more rare each year.
