TM G3 A3/SG-1 differences?

This is the G3 A3

And this is the G3 SG-1

Apart from the obvious all 'round dark finish of the SG-1 and the bipod, whats different? And what is that thing above the butt of the SG-1? Is that like a counterweight for the bipod or something?

its called a "cheek rest" used my marksman and snipers alike so as to not strain their neck while looking through a scope. Makes it a pain in the butt to use ironsights though.
Other that that on the airsoft gun they're exactly alike. On realsteel versions the SG1 has a hand selected barrel for higher accuracy.....that's about it.
Personally I like the bipod, but the cheekrest does nothing but get in the way of my ironsights, I'll remove it someday its just glued on lol

Above the stock is a cheek peice. To make it more comfortable.

The G3A3 is an automatic small arm which can fire single shots or bursts from all firing positions. The Rifle G3 is a recoil operated weapon incorporating a delayed roller locked bolt system. Ammunition is fed from a 20-rounds magazine or can be inserted manually. Telescopic sight or infrared scopes can be employed without modifying the rifle. Rifle grenades can be launched with rifle.

The G3 SG1 is a derivative version of the G3 made by H&K. Its main purpose is as a highly accurate full auto capable weapon, for use as a spotter's gun or for a sharpshooter within a squad. It chambers the 7.62x51mm round and its distinguishing features are a bipod and a rubber cheek rest mounted on the stock with a rubber back plate for comfort.

Not even glued on. It's held in place with a 2 sided sticky tape.

Had the pleasure of owning the real thing (G3) several years back. You learn to give great respect for German engineering. They are so well built it's nuts.

This was the only rifle that five of us ever used which shot sub-minute of angle for each of us.
