Flash lights

well i did a search on flashlights and didn't find much that was useful pertaining to my situation.

Well i'm in the market of buying a flashlight and i'd like to know the low down of everything. For example, how bright is bright, whats the run time of one, what is a 100 lumens comparable to, etc.
Are the replica's worth it (like the "superfire" ones on ebay)?
well, i can't wait to see your reply. thanks

I would look at rechargeable flashlights only if you are buying new. 100 lumens is bright and would be fine for a weapon light CQB. Most weapon lights are designed to be high output and low lifespan. Its a drawback but if they are used as to only blind an opponent and not a normal flashlight than it wont matter. There are after market bulbs you can get that will allow you to use a mag-lite or others. Depending on your cell size and count you could drop a terralux bulb in one and get 120+ lumens and still retain your focus adjustments (this is a 2AA flashlight). After market tail switches are also available. If you have the choice you might go for a blue light. Colors of light have different frequencies blue lights are some of the brightest due to the frequency of the color. Just in case you like to push the limits 400-600 lumens is like being outside in daylight and at around 10,000 is were eye damage occurs. You probably wont find any flashlights with that kid of output but if you intend on blinding people with a weapon light you should know what kind of repercussions exist. In the 100-300 lumen range there isn't much so don't worry.

I got an Ultrafire from airsoftparts.ca. I honestly don't use flashlights often enough to warrant buying anything better (more costly).

Go to candlepowerforums and you can pick up a cheap 6P or G2. Both put out 60 lumens which is sufficient for most airsofting. Get a 1' scope ring and you are set.

If you don't like it, just resell it. Resale on surefires is great, so you risk nothing.

or you can get an ultralight n2 with gun cable that blares out at 120 lumans. more then enough to stunn your victom with shock and aww wile you force him to the ground and take him prisner.

and that n2 with cable is only like 60 max

I'm happy with my $50 Streamlite Scopion, 85 lumens, two CR123 batteries, super bright and yet quite compact.

Personally I've yet to encounter a flashlight at TTAC3 where my first response wasn't to unload a mag at the source. Just because I can't see you doesn't mean I can't score a hit.
If you chalage it there will be those who try.

Easily the best bang for buck and most practical light I have found. Comparing it to the other Streamlight models or even Surefire it really stacks up nicely.

Approx, 140$ Streamlight Strion: 116 lumens, xenon, rechargable li-on batteries (huge plus), 70 min runtime. More lumens and runtime and better battery options over the G3.
