I just across these two picture of the PPCLI over militaryphotos.net. It caught my eyes instantaneously because one of the soldier is waering the old US PASGT flak jacket. It makes me wondering why this guy is waering that vest? The canadian vest has small arms protection with ceremic plates while the PASGT is frag only...

By the way, those pictures are from the first canadian deployment to Afghanistan as you can see (temperate uniform). I also cam across a picture of a soldier wearing a US 3 color helmet cover. I know there are many guys in the military in the forum so if you guys could explain me why those soldiers are wearing US equipment I'd appreciate it.

Past-the-wire kit? I know when I was at Cougar Salvo everyone was wearing the PASGT vests. I guess they come out when the OD vests are in short supply.

Probably just leant out because they didn't have extras on hand.

US Woodland vests were issued at the last Stalwart Guardian too.

Theres a lot of US PASGT vests in the system, only now they are for troops in training(ie SQ, DP1, FTXs, etc)

In 2002 it aswell as the Cdn OD PASGT vest were in use since there wasn't a enough of the new(at that time) Canadian body armour out( what you see Maj Campbell wearing in the 2nd pic).

But now everyone on tour gets the new Canadian CADPAT carriers with plates, and a lot of Reg Force troops get them issued at their units.

As for the 3 color desert helmet covers you see some troops wearing, that would be something they acquired from US troops.

Also, our snipers in 01/02 were issued British Desert DPM uniforms.
