Bushnell or Eotech? Lense protector?

My question is mainly: is it possible to get a lense protector on a Bushnell or Eotech 502, the models without the armour shroud? If so, is it visually pleasing, or is there just a piece or polycarbonate slapped in front of the sight, as opposed to the polycarbonate that' wedged into the armour shroud.

Cheers,

Yes it is. The ones that I've seen so far is just a piece of polycarbonate slapped in front of it...
Nothing wrong with it visually, just looks like it says.... slapped in front of it... like it was glued on...

I believe it was Dave's surplus that has them in stock.... they've quite the display of eotech.

My lense protector is made for the units that have the hood. HWS units without the hood will have problems keeping the lense in place. You can use double sided tape to hold the tabs in place and I can put some black paint on the tabs to hide the color of the tape.

How sturdy is this doublesided tape solution? I'm just wondering the the triple digit difference in price is worth it.

The double sided foam tape is made by 3M and I think you'll have a hard time taking it off. It's very sticky.

You know you want an EOTech! It's D3Lta!!!!

Oh, I'm getting an HWS either way, just wondering if the armoured shroud of the mid-upper tier Eotechs justifies their ridiculously large price difference when compared to the Eotech 502 and Bushnells.

I do have to say here, Bruce is right. I bought a Bushnell and went through this whole saga. I ended up reselling the Bushnell taking a slight loss and bought an Eotech 512. Also consider the 512 'AA' model is even that much more ... D3Lta (lol) than the 511, 502 or Bushnell. Its actually much larger than the 502/Bushnell with the thick shield and added length, looks way more rugged/imposing.

As for justification - after spending so much already getting a gun to look the part, might as well accept the extra hundred here and hundred-fifty there and just be totally happy with it. Personally, I'm happy I went the extra mile with the 512. FWIW, the protective hood is peace of mind itself, its a hefty little chunk of metal, and the rubberized buttons beat the touch surface style on the Bushnell for ruggedness too.

I'd be more worried about what got hit by my Eotech than the other way around, I couldn't say the same about the Bushnell. I got mine for around 375 CDN NIB from ebay, but after tax/ship/duty it'll be around 425. Worth it!
