Which Repro Headset for Airsoft?

there are entry level peltors that are compatible with arc rails and comtac kit, not sure why more people don't use them. You can get a set of just the hearing pro for 150 bucks or so, similar to the howard leights people keep mentioning.

So, this Impact Sport earmuff, it's capable of being plugged into radios and mics and PTT's and the sort, yes?
Which radio, mic, and PTT would you guys recommend for it?

Yes.

If/when I get a set of impact pros my plan was to use it with my Code red signal 21 shoulder mic. Its a solid piece of gear for a good price and used by real law enforcement. The code red shoulder mic (and most other shoulder mics) has a 3.5mm out which can hook directly to the impact pros. Alternatively you could run the shoulder mic with an earpiece for a more discreet look (what I currently do), or run the shoulder mic on its own if comms privacy isn't a concern.

Any Baofeng (Pofung) radio would be a good choice and is what a majority of people use. UV-5R. UV-82. Some of the newer models look yummy too.

The HL's came in today (ordered from Amazon with 2 day shipping). Just wearing them around the house under my helmet and face/eye pro, they're 8/10 comfortable. The sound quality is 9/10 and the amplification is so good it's actually a little funny. I can hear my computer fan on the third floor from the first floor when I turn up the amp all the way. Also, I can literally hear my modem, and it gets louder as I walk closer to it

I flicked the headset a few times with amp up to max and it didn't make any seriously loud noises, which is great.

I'll be taking it to the arena today, hopefully it performs just as well

Using mine at work was bonkers. I was blowing snow off of sidewalks with a leaf blower and the engine noise was cut out nicely, but I could hear the air moving the snowflakes around.

Also note: The life expectancy of two generic AAA batteries is about six hours. Use premium batteries.

Also also note: These headsets are known to be great for mid-high spectrum db reduction, but are only "better than nothing" for extreme lows and pressure differentials where sound will conduct through your skull. They should be used with the addition of foam plugs when shooting very large caliber weapons, operating heavy machinery from an open cabin, or going Roadie with AC/DC for extended periods of time.

With the HL how would you hook up a mic and Ptt to say a puxing or baofeng radio?

peltor has a couple other models, friend of mine has a 6s that has a 3.5 input on each ear cup. I tried finding it online but no dice, apparently they have a bunch of models off the retail catalogs but have part numbers you can order that have various configurations.

So, I used it throughout the day yesterday at the arena. Have to say, it made me sweat a lot more than I expected when wearing it under the helmet. As for comfort, it was a 6.5/10 and hearing quality it was a 7/10 at best. It made hearing background noise a lot easier and hearing people talk a lot harder. But is it worth the trade off of looking cooler, having ear/head protection, and being able to use comms for big games? Absolutely. I'll probably get the comfort issue fixed over time, but I don't know what to do with sound quality. People talk to me from 5 feet away and I can barely hear them, but when they whisper it is easily audible. I have tried messing with the volume controls, it isn't helping much. Perhaps it'll be better this Friday when I take it again and I just need to get used to it...

Definitely a different soundscape than regular old ears.
With my helmet on at games (MICH) and my hood up at work, I found the same thing with voices too, glad it's not just me?
I found that conversation is fine with the mics fully exposed though, maybe there's something to that? Further testing required for sure.
