MSA Sordin help

Hey all.

Ive been looking at SRS Tactical for awhile and Ive narrowed down my selection to these two headsets:

http://srstactical.ca/msa-sordin-sup....html?___SID=U

or

http://srstactical.ca/msa-sordin-sup....html?___SID=U

Could anyone tell me what the difference is, and if that difference is worth the price gap?

As well, I am running a puxing 888. What PTT from this site do I need to buy so that everything works? Will I have to rewire something? I would 100% prefer not to re-wire, so just wondering if I can just get the headset and some PTT from here and it will just plug and play with my radio.

Thanks!

neither of those are comms compatible headsets, they are purely hearing protection. you will be looking at $500+ to get a comms headset from SRS, too see the options go under the "communication headsets" tab under products. Your cheapest option will be to buy some MSA Sordins off ebay, with boom mic and TP120 connector, then get SRS to do the microphone conversion for airsoft radios. You will have to have the microphone on the headset switched out for your puxing. As long as you buy real MSA PTTs, no rewireing needed, if you run an airsoft PTT with real sordins you will have to re-wire the PTT.

Ah thats strange, why dont they sell MSA sordins with the mic on this store.........

And yah id prefer to get a real PTT, rewiring sounds like it could cause problems down the road.

Just noticed this:

The mic conversion for civ radio is easy.

https://www.ar15.com/forums/t_6_10/4...fo.html&page=1

It literally only costs $10 for a chinese Panasonic 6mm mic off ebay and 15 minutes to remove the PCB.

But yeah, stock Sordin runs dynamic mics which will not work well with civ-radio PTTs. You either need to built an Engdahl amp into your PTT ($30 in parts) , convert your Sordin to a electret mic ($5-10 in parts), or pay $150-200 to companies like TCI or MSA for a amp-ed PTT for civillian radios.

The ebay $150 Sordins are rumoured to have poorer RF shielding though (read: interference).
