How Accurate is Your RDS?
Hi, I just bought a RDS (Like the G&P one) for my G36C with a low Mount, the problem is even with a lowmount, the Dot is still to high, i played with the wheel all the way down , not a big deal, Maybe i was expecting too much froma RDS? You guys got one for look only? How are they very accurate? If There is something im doing wrong let me know...THX

You sure you adjusted right? Mine is a TGS RDS. and it seems pretty accurate for me. When u say wheel it down, u mean getting the elevation down right?

Dunno which model you got, but the RDS's that I have are quite functional. Definately not just for looks. I've got a P90 (RDS) and my bro's got 2 aimpoints for his M4 and G36 all of which are tuned well and at around 80 ft or so, if your dot is on your target, you'll have a pretty darn good chance of hitting them.
Just curious, but have you tuned your hopup and everything? Make sure the scope rings are tight. if all fails you can try to slip some paper in the back scope ring under the RDS so it props it up a bit which should push the whole thing pointing more downwards. not sure how well that'll work for an RDS but it works well for scopes. |

Also, what's the distance you're zeroing your RDS at? If you're trying to zero it while indoors (at home), you probably won't be able to do so properly. The distance will be too close for your dot to be "moved down" enough.

Take off the dust cover, then adjust the sight.

Ok. You know that moving the dot down will raise the muzzle, eh? Same as raising the dot will lower where the BBs hit? Moving the dot to the left will bring the muzzle/BBs more right, and vice versa.
Let's clarify a bit, when you aim at the target, where are your BBs hitting? Helps us help you if we know where your BBs are landing in relation to the dot. From reading what you typed, your BBs are hitting well above where you aim. Correct? |

If you ARE adjusting it correctly and you're still way off target (take into consideration: Parallax, especially at ranges less than 50 feet), then you may need to shim a side of your ring underneath the RDS to tilt it. Sometimes just one or two pieces of paper are enough.

I think he means that he's already turned the dot all the way down, but the RDS is still sitting too high up - meaning the bbs are still hitting too low and the dot isn't matching where the bbs hit.
