Multicam is too fucking tan. This past April in Muskoka, Recon was wearing MARPAT with a multicam boonie for part of the day. From 100 feet away all I could see was a bright, khaki coloured hat moving through the bush.
I think it's pretty cool stuff, but not very good for southern Ontario. Not when compared with CAD/MARPAT. |

Heh, they asked to rule out MultiCam as an available camo for the next Rawdon game because not only did it work well in the Desert, as soon as you popped into the forest you didn't loose it's effectiveness. As with all camo, it's got it's place.

Multi cam... ok at everything, not great for anything?
Quote:
from what I can tell Muticam was designed to be "satisfactory all around camo" not particularly great for any one terrain.. but pretty good for most. I am thinking that for Canada with it's season swings and variable terrain this may be a good option. Do we know of other reputable suppliers other than the top o' the line stuff that Whisper_Kill picked up?

As for the MultiCam design itself. I agree with Zeonprime's so eloguently put description, "looks like vomit". or Scarecrow's "Spilled paint" analogy. After playing with it this past Sunday at DragonOps, I would say it is just as effective as any other camo that was on the field that day, including CadPat/MarPat. But this applies only to DragonOPS (as it's the only location I've played at with it thuse far), it had a diverse mix of green lush woodlands, dead tall grass (tan colour), shaded areas (dark green/black) and such. My cam seemed to be relatively effective in all those types of growth. Can't say how effective it would be in an all wooded area... I would imagine not very and good 'ol CADPAT would dominate. The Crye Precision BDU pieces I have are extremely well made. Bartacked PALS webbing, x or cross-stitching, double and quadruple stitching in critical stress areas/seams... ample pockets, quality zippers and pulls, integrated pads and a killer tactical shirt using material similar to Under Armour's heat and moisture wisking ability. I do prefer my CADPAT BDU but as an alternate BDU for those with some expendible income, it is a good option. IMO.

Dave's Surplus has another batch of their ACU cut MultiCam - i'd give them a call. I got a pair myself and I am really impressed with the pattern cut. They also carry all the MultiCam gear as well; ESSTAC, TT, HSGI, etc...
