CA P90 w/Extended Barrel, tracer?
I've been searching for a CA P90 tracer unit. Pretty easy to come by. However I can't find out of the suppressor styled tracer will work with an extended barrel installed (I suspected it won't work). So my question is...
With a CA P90 Proline, using the extended barrel, is there a tracer solution? EDIT: continued thread @ http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=132727 Last edited by sabinn; November 15th, 2011 at 18:01.. |

No the barrel extension goes past the IR sensor that activates the tracer unit. So you must use the stock barrel if you plan on using a tracer unit. The only gun I know of that can have tracers with any barrel length is the M4 or any gun that takes m4 mags. Either using the Madbul Ultimate Hopup with LED unit for M4's or the G&P tracer mags which will fit in any gun that uses m4 mags.
But saying that the options for the P90 with an extended barrel would be if you could mod the mag to fit an LED unit that continuously glows then it should be possible or get the fugly M4 mag adapter for the P90 and run G&P M4 tracer mags. Or make a civilian version of the P90 (PS90) with the extended outer barrel and just screw on the tracer unit there (but this option makes the P90 long and piss ugly). These are your only options if you're running an extended barrel. Last edited by sushicake; July 10th, 2011 at 00:32.. |

I guess the safest way would be to mod a P90 mag. They're translucent plastic so it'll be a pain. I think it would be a whole lot easier just to use my M4 for nightsoft ;]
Thanks for the info! Much appreciated |

how much does the inner barrel extend? you could use a gen1 TM tracer unit. they came with 2 different length tubes. one is similar in length to the gen2 and the other is a longer tube that pushes the sensor 3 inches forwards. I use the longer one with my AK spetznas as my inner barrel come to a couple millimeters from the end of the flash hider.

Modding a P90 to have internal illumination (at the hop-up/mag joint) is stupid easy.
There is plenty of room on both sides of the hop-up unit. There is also quite some space above it. The BBs are travelling in a clear magasine, close to the surface of the gun along the body. You just need to make a hole (I would say about 15mm long by 4mm) and install 4x UV 1500mc LEDs (they are about 5-6$ each, you have to ask at the counter in electronic supply stores, forget about The Source). It will have PLENTY of time to charge-up the BBS just before the feed to the hop-up and at 6000mc, you will get roughly the same power as a TM/Madbull tracer. Plus since it's UV, you will see a weak purple glow from under the magasine. At 4' it won't be visible anymore. Finally, rig it to your main battery, with a NO switch to detect the magazine-in condition and turn off the system when no mag is in. |

I just modded my p90 hopup in about 5 minutes to be a tracer.
I do have a lot of elecirical background but really if your thinking of doing a mag. this is probably easier. and to be honest. One mag is never enough
