G&P M4 GBBR - Needs to cock everytime
so i finally got my new bolt carrier in and my prowin mags. everything is good for the last couple of days. now suddenly the gun can not fire full auto, infact it needs to be cocked every time i want to fire. what can be the problem?
edit: okay, seems to be the bolt carrier. i got a VLTor 5KU bolt carrier with a ra tech drop in nozzel. I notice the bolt carrier also seems to be a bit too long and the nozzel o-ring is very tighly fitted. Last edited by Thanh; January 13th, 2011 at 16:40.. |

Check the o-ring. Many times, the o-ring that comes with the nozzle are too tight. I also have RA-Tech o-rings that are a bit smaller.
Was the bolt carrier you group made specifically for the G&P receiver? |

It's not the same. Different length.

Go to home depot, with your bolt carrier, and test orings.... :P

Yeah, I'd personally avoid "shaving" o-rings. I'm not sure what your method was, but I'm picturing an Xacto knife and using your hand. That's not exactly a precision setup for a part that needs more precise fitment as the sole source of a solid air seal. Your gas consumption would probably improve with an appropriate fitting o-ring.
I'd also avoid bringing a bolt carrier group to Home Depot, but that's just me. At the most, I would only bring the piston head, as it's fairly innocuous on its own. |

you can get a standard size oring from LOWES or Home hardware. it's like 2 thou smaller then the bore of the carrier. all you need to do is cut a long thin piece of paper and wrap it around the oring slot. you can test different lengths until you get the perfect fit.
them RA-Tech orings are garbage, way too large and soft. using a silicon oring in a silicon oil rich environment.. not the smartest of ideas. standard orings are Viton and do not absorb or react with silicon oil, or much of anything else.

I brought mine to Home depot, and was testing orings.... ppl didnt understand what it was...lol
For the general public, they ahv eno clue what a bolt it.... for them to ID a gun, or a part of a gun, they need to see a trigger, stock, barrel, mag..... |
