Ballistic shield

Hi,

Do anyone know where I could get a replica for a ballistic shield?

Ideally with viewing port, same weight and size as the real deal?

Thanks

Paintball CQB Toronto has one though I'm not sure how realistic they are (I've never fiddled with 1). Maybe an Eco could chime in with how they got one?

Me and some buddies made a couple out of sheet metal once, took about 3 hours. They were well put together and everything, but they tended to get their bearers killed for some reason. Probably because they made a godawful amount of noise and weighed too much to run with.

I made 2 out of clear lexan with old garage door handles, and bent aluminium sheet to make a half-round form to hold my arm. It's very light and useful. I also made one out of metal with a window made with lexan also. I'll take pictures of these this week.

Some appear on eBay from time to time. Search for riot shield or tactical shield.

Somone stole the one used by the GITQ at the Mill. We left it there once and someone took it.

Is that the one you are talking about?
The last time I saw it, the viewport glass was broken.

that would get chewed up pretty quickly, at electrowerkz in the UK they had one made, then another then another...

even playing at sub 330fps, when you get 3 or 4 people pouring fire into it it'll get 'shot blasted'

in the end they just accepted it and made them to be worn out over the course of a couple of weeks/month or two...

unless you made it out of something really solid (steel sheet which is epoxied to wood) also, go for mesh for the peep-hole, because when that lexan peep hole gets hit enough it'll be useless...

The shields we have at CQB are made from plexiglass and fiberglass, with a plastic handle on them. I can't tell you how they made them because I don't know. All I know is that the shields are very strong, made from thick fiberglass, can withstand shots from paintballs and all types of Airsoft projectiles.
